All,

First post here, seem to be quite a number of Atom fans!

I currently run a Boxster S Porsche but am looking for something 1) faster 2) more fun 3)cheaper to run. As a BIG motorbike fan the Atom's an obvious choice.

Just wondering what's the best way to purchase it through the company, therefore claiming back VAT and running costs. I presume people have looked into this already, any advice would be very much appreciated.

And if anyone wants to swap their atom for a very nice Boxster S, let me know!

Hi Dan!

See: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=158093&f=79&h=0

Basically, they're really tough on the use of vehicles being written off against tax of any kind.

The 'hired promotional vehicle' route I think is still the best... And works out about the same as writing it off using depreciation over three years through the company.

...edited to say that the £500-600 figure is well out - I've seen Atoms being hired out for the day for up to £1200! At that rate, a month of days should do the trick!

Thanks for the reply Bruce.

This seems the best way then. It would still be a lot better to have it down as a company purchase customer entertainment tool, saving the VAT and not having to pay the income tax on extra earning to afford the repayments!

I'll speak to my accountant about it and post my outcome on the forum.

They seem to be holding their money pretty well still, can't understand why anyone would buy a s/h car when a new one's basically the same price!!
