Given the level of interest in an Atom-only instruction day, I'm going to organise one if enough people sign up. Robb Gravett and his Ultimate Car Control organisation will host it (format below), likely to cost about £250+VAT, slightly less for Owners Club members, slightly more if not. He won't take more than 12 on a course, so if there is appetite, we can always organise two days (and you can always come on both!).

Possible weekends either Saturday or Sunday:

30 April / 1 May
7/8 May
14/15 May
11/12 June
18/19 June
2/3 July
9/10 July
23/4 July

Format is as follows:
- At the TRL, which is in Crowthorne, just off jn 3 of the M3.
- Starts at 9, away by 5.
- Food and drink all included
- Driver of the day award (usually crystal vase / decanter)
- Mix of classroom training, specific observed exercises and circuit work (all coned in a large area, so nothing to hit and no excuse for not pushing too hard!), some with instructor in the car, some observed
- Certification at end of day - some insurance companies give 10-15% discounts for this

Robb and his team are very safety conscious, and he is a great instructor. Let me know who wants to play?

Let me know who wants to come and dates. Email rather than replies here, please, although feel free with suggestions and so on.

Hi Meyrick,

Count me in, unless you have to bring your own car (ours is sold.....) :-(

Let me know what dates are looking popular.

Robb has a number of his own cars, so for those who are currently Atomless, the humiliation of body panels await.

Please tell me which dates you can / can't do. Waiting for everyone else to say means we never get to reduce the number of dates.

So far, I have 7 responses including Bruce. The only weekend which works for all those I have dates for appears to be the 9th or 10th July, which seems a long way off, so I hope Bruce and Julian can make that.

Would you prefer the Saturday or Sunday? I have a marginal preference for the latter. I am seeing Robb on Thursday, so can try and reserve the day for it.

At the moment, we don't have enough people to make it work at £250 + VAT, even if all those who have responded make it, so we need to rustle up ideally three more. . . .

I've put the 10th in the diary. From experience, I'd start collecting the cash as soon as possible whilst people are still excited!

Email us separately and let us know to whom we should make out cheques.

I would love to come for the day as I do intend to have another Atom (and soon) and I don't want you boys to have to much of an advantage when I get to my next track day.... Is owning an atom a must to qualify for the day ?? I do have a fine Discovery with active suspension Mark

Wonder if the factory will take a couple of cars to rent out and demonstrate upgrades etc... Could be good for sales! I would certainly pay to have a go and also bring my cheque book with me (just in case)Alternativly I can bring my new 350Z roadster (bought instead of an Atom)and swap a few laps with anyone willing?

You may struggle getting cars out of Simon Meyrick - they simply can't build 'em fast enough at the moment.

In an attempt to bypass the waiting time and get in an Atom for summer, I asked Simon to sell me a demonstrator. He would of done only he hasn't got any! - They've all been sold and they can't make 'em fast enough to replace 'em. All the build current slots are pukka orders. He did say that another engineer would be joining the fold soon, so that may help the situation, but no promises...

Like I said - no promises!

I think it looks like we are going to get enough now for a full day, so cheques to me to get your place, no cheque, no place reserved! £250 + VAT, i.e. £293.75. I will email my address to those who have said yes. Cheques payable to Ultimate Car Control

We'll go for Sunday 10th July, so I will confirm that with Robb.

If anyone would like to hire an Atom for the day (cheaper on a group basis) then we have one that at some points I'll sort out a club rate for with Bruce.

Bruce - nice to meet you at Donington by the way.

Stephen,
that might be a thought, if there are enough willing to chip in, and it's going to be sensible with the way the day is organised.
if we were going to go that way i'd probably have to ask Toby along as well, wouldn't I

if anyone else is interested then shout!

Hi Meyrick

Sorry for being late on the uptake, been away and working for a change!

What dates are people settling for and is the instruction in Rob's car or your own?

Our new car doesn't turn up until the end of June.....

Julian,

We ended up on 10th July. You can use one of his cars if you need to.

I have now received 5 cheques, so thank you to Messrs Lloyd, Fielding, Badman (x2) and Bessant.

I need another five, or we won't have a day!

How quickly do you need a response? There has been a change of plans in the household, and there's a chance that I wont be able to make that weekend, but I'll only know towards the end of May.

It depends a bit on my infinite charm convincing Robb to hold the day for us, but I can't see he will keep a day free for us all that much longer without knowing we can go ahead.

I'd love to come Meyrick but the 10th is the day before we go on holiday with the brood and I think my balls would be in a vice (and tightened every hour) if I even suggested it...
