Honda engines - supply problem

I have inside knowledge that Honda will not supply engines from the Swindon factory due to tax issues and non payment of bills by motorsport teams.

I will leave you to ponder the implications ..

I'm 100% sure that Ariel is paying its bill with no major difficulty and that it's a good market for Honda : Profit and Image.

The problem is not from Ariel, they are a good company, but I have heard Honda is doing a blanket ban on supply of engines from Swindon ...

Apparently this isn't affecting Ariel (I checked because I'm due to get my 2nd Atom in April).

From what I can gather the 220 engines aren't supplied from Swindon anyway, they are Jap spec ones through Belgium (or something like that).

The 160bhp ones are from Swindon though.

Who else does Honda offer engines for that produce cars?(I am aware of a small car company in Japan that makes a sports car with the old Intrega 1.8 engine).

I know they support a few Motorsport teams that race saloons etc but can't think of any production cars.

The 220 bhp engines do come from Swindon who then resell them to ELR in Belgium,

I heard Ariel had a secret stash of Honda engines to keep them going for a while ...not that Simon'd have much trouble finding a replacement ...a new challenge ...a new chance to find an engine with even more power!

Was at the factory on Saturday (popped in while out for a thrash). Saw Jean-Pascal's in build, which looked wicked with a black chassis and was having the Hondata ECU fitted; and Rob's with gorgeous aerodynamic wishbones on it, which I am very jealous of (although not rich enough to copy!!).

6 Honda engines, two 220s, the rest 160s fresh from the factory sitting waiting for their chassis. So, not sure what your source was, but its not affecting Ariel at all.

My source is inside the gates, just said Honda at a board level won't sell anymore engines from the Swindon factory. I believe him...
Doesn't mean that Ariel has not got engines stockpiled, or bought from a separate source, but they will not come from Swindon or officially from Honda ..

"My" Atom 245 has black chassis And black "panels", so all black.
This car is normaly not for me, but for one of my french "customer" (remember that after having purchased an Atom for me, i try to import them in France, with a lot of homologations' problems!!!).
At the beginning he was thinking of a black chassis with McLaren grey "panels", but finaly it's all black !
