We have been invited to a Big Thunder Trackday - they're the guys that run Atoms as corporate events at Bruntingthorpe. And it might be nice for our more northerly members not to have to travel so far... Here are the details

Venue: Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, Near Lutterworth, Leicestershire
Organiser: Big Thunder
Dates: Saturday 9th April, Saturday 7th May
Format: Open pit lane
Cars: Limited to 80
Noise limit: 98db
Briefing @: 09.15
Finish @: 16.30
Price for one car + driver: £100.00 inc. VAT
2nd driver: POA
Passengers: POA
Other: Helmet hire and instruction also available

They've also told me of an 'Atom Experience' that you can suggest for those who want to drive your car, but you wouldn't let near it! People can come on either of the above dates, and it costs c.£150 for a 20 minute experience. Naturally, the driver will be accompanied by an instructor.

Having passed on that info, I think that if I was going 'oop North', I'd have a crack at a proper twisty hilly track like Oulton or Cadwell. However, £100 would be hard to beat for value for an open pit lane day...

What do you chaps think?

I'll be there on one of the dates for sure ...my car still carries the "Big Thunder" sign-writing, so I'd best be careful they don't reclaim the car when I'm not looking!

Its a fairly abrasive surface, so if people have got options on tyres, I'd go for a harder rather than softer compound for the day.

Hi Bruce,

As I've paid for the RMA club membership I would be looking to do a couple of their days - maybe Donnington on the 15th March, but that might be too soon after Bedford, and Snetterton on the 30th April, as well as Elvington every couple of weeks or so, if anyone is passing this way!

Would also be looking at Croft and Cadwell at some point too.

Cheers,

Pete.

Copied from Javelin newsletter...

Hi All

The new trackday year is really starting in earnest. To really wake you from hibernation we have a special deal on circuit events. Just telephone 01469 560574 book and confirm both Snetterton (March 18th) and Cadwell Park (March 23rd) before the end of February and get the two events for just £240. Do not forget that includes your first additional driver or passenger. Usual event price £129 per event.

Peter.

Your wish is my command... www.fastclubuk.com/eventinfo.php?id=16&PHPSESSID=30fe8afc7110ff771aa18df3ff6be6a0

This is a FastClub day at Cadwell on Friday, June 10. We've been offered a club discount which reduces the price on this open pit lane day.

I know it's not all the way North, but it's closer for our Northern members... Maybe even a Scot... And Cadwell is the 'mini-nurburgring' for those who want a mini adventure before braving the real thing!

Email me if you're up for it!

Quote from Nigel of FasctClub:
There's no code required to get the discount. We will add the AAOC discount on our website to enable online bookings.

Can I suggest that you encourage as many members as possible to visit www.fastclubuk.com and register their details and car detail. Simply click 'register' on the home page. This is free and means they are set up for any online bookings they wish to make.
I am sending this message from Rottnest Isalnad off Fremantle Australia, but just to let you know how keen I am I was booking my Cadweell date as we boarded the plane.
