Ariel Atom in the USA?

The Ariel site currently lists a left-hand drive Ariel Atom 220 with road package for sale in WA, USA. www.arielmotor.co.uk/04/frames.htm

Does anyone know whose car this is, how they got it registered in the US, and whether it's street legal?

The only owner I know of is the guy who lives in Seattle who I met at Bedford - I think he has two so it's quite likely that it's him who's selling one! I think there's going to be an interview with him in openwheeler's next newsletter.

Incidentally, if he does read this forum, then I'd love a scan of some of the pics he took at Bedford!

Yes, this car is fully road legal and for sale. The owner is taking delivery of his second and considering keeping both of them(!) but he'd like to talk to any potential owners.

I'll pass details of this forum on to him.

The referenced car is mine and Andrewe Maqckie's comments are accurate. My second engine has already arrived but I'm waiting for the second chassis (race replaica) to be completed. I will sell the first one, but only after I have the 2nd fully registered.

(expect early 2005) I have numerous expressions of interest from people intersted in the USA especially from those on Elisee waiting lists who are frustrated with the wait and pricing.

Can you describe the process of importing an Ariel to the US and registering it so that it's road legal?

P.S. Also curious why you are replacing your Atom 220.... it's only a year old, and is equipped with great options.
