What are peoaple's view on wearing a helmet with the windscreen attached?

I've got an Atom (with a windscreen) for a weekend coming up, and just wondered whether I needed to bother with a helmet?

Is the wind sufficiently diffused for a few hundred miles of B-road driving without coming out feeling like I've been sand blasted? I'm going to do as little motorway driving as possible.

Any views welcome, as are any general tips on clothing for an early May drive in an Atom.

Thanks in advance.

I've got gun sights and always wear a helmet but those I know with windscreens have then precisely so they do not need a helmet - if it's say 12 degrees I would say thermals and layers with waterproofs to stop the wind assuming you don't have panels

Thanks.

No panels and I'm hoping for more the 12 degrees!

Yep most windscreen users don't bother with helmets so you should be ok on that front. However don't underestimate how cold you will get at this time of year.

Would gloves be worthwhile? I've got some lightweight, grippy, windproof cycle gloves that I think would be perfect.

The windscreen may help with this so perhaps not but I have almost never driven without them in 6 years of Atom ownership, even on quite hot days

Gloves a must IMO, as Ben said, I always wear mine when driving the car in 4 years of ownership.

Re the windscreen, don't have one myself but owners who have when discussed with them do report that the wind whips round the sides and they had been know to get the odd thing flick up at them.

Hope that helps
