NEW 1/4 MILE RECORD FOR U.K. VIPER?
Discussion
Tested the new setup for the first time "proper" at the "POD" and despite lots of wheel spin and only 3 runs to sus out a new launch (still got a lot to learn!)managed a 1/8 mile at 97mph @ 7.7sec and the ....1/4 mile at 126.31 @ 11.61sec.....so just putting the Venom on the top of the pile.(Not for long unless we improve our 60ft time coz that was pants!)So Neil.....a little job for u on the UK Record Site, when u find time!Unless someones went faster this weekend? "Thanks Neil!"

Didn't you run a high 10 before, soon after you got your car back? Should be able to get consistent 10s with practise.

stevieturbo said:Well the time slip shows 2.002 for the 60ft and i hear that for every 1/10 lost at this point= 3/10 at the 1/4 mile,i was using far to much throttle in first and had the rear of the car tramping/wheels spinning till i got into second gear,so v low 11,s should be possible with practice.Any ideas or clues from the Steve?
What was the 60ft time ??
Viper said:. Thanks Neil !,sadly the 800bhp stickers come of coz we have done a few calculations using a Drag Racing Formula based on total car weight and terminal speed and used the same for car without NOS.It appears that we are only getting 95/100 rw hp from the kit and problably had 30 bhp less than we thought without the NOS (But i think Nad already guessed that!)So its going back to "Power Engineering" for some more "work",hope to test it again after were back from Le Mans.
a good starting point Tom, I'm sure you'll get faster, think the record section may be busy this year with all these mods going on
To be honest, if you are on road tyres then 2 secs isnt that bad for a rwd car although a sub 2 secs would be nice.. And a Viper has some pretty big tyres.
The 1/8th mile of 97 @ 7.7 is pretty good. There must be some grip there somewhere.
As a reference, even a lot of the 4wd Subarus and Evos are only managing 1.8sec 60ft times. Occasionally some drop below it, but not many if using road tyres.
By road tyres, I mean road tyres, not soft compound road legal tyres.
My best 60ft has been 2.35secs at Elvington. At Santa Pod and Crail, it was higher up at around 2.5-2.8, which really is crap.
I did try some Khumos at Santa Pod late last year, but 2nd burnout saw a snapped driveshaft, so didnt get any results.
I have a new axle in the car now, and if all goes well, I'll get a chance to test it at Elvington at the end of may.
60ft's are one thing...its the 100ft, 200ft, 300ft that I had a problem with..lol
What sort of 60fts do the Corvette guys get, and the other Vipers ??

WE were on our Khumos so i guess we should have done a bit better and without the wheel spin i think we could have doen low 11,s ,still must say i was a bit disappointed, hope to test again soon when its jets have been changed.I find it amazing that my second run with 11.8 for the 1/4 @ 124.96 mph matched Sarahs second run on speed, she ran 12.035 @ 124.96mph,not sure whats going on but looking at the trap times i got away sooner but seemed to loose speed to her in the final 1/8 ,just seems funny how the same car can cover the distance with a quicker time but identical speed, can,t realy get my brain around that one,any ideas?
WERE THE FASTEST VIPER!............Just thought i,d rub it in a bit,and as this item was slipping out of sight:...LOOK AGAIN SUCKERS......We have the fastest Viper!(Gonna make the most of this as i think our record will be short lived.....)Joel my heart bleeeds for you!Ha Ha Ha ..........worked out how it all fits together yet?..................Yer i know i,m but i don,t need u lot 2 tell me ,it comes kinda naturel...(Think this post may have something to do with my return from the Amsterdam "Coffee Shop",
