he landed OK, a pint of beer and off to his Luton bed

Baz said to remind everyone £20 per head for the food, and please pay for your drinks as you order them, rather than put them on the tab

You clearly are not off setting your Carbon Footprint with the use of plants...

Good to see Chuck arrived safe & sound, just sorry that I will not be able to make it to the Luton Lunch this year and catch up.
Send him my best

You need to get Chuck in every pic, even if he's trying to hide.

:Cough:

1189AD http://www.triptojerusalem.com/

Plus, I'm not having that 1300 statement of yours as the sign clearly says that in 1400 it was a Pigeon Coop, now I'm no expert but some glorified building that a Pigeon fancier erected to keep his prize flying rats in does not constitute an Inn...

If Chuck wants to see the Oldest Pub in England... I direct you again to the link above... wink
But I'm not going to be held responsible if it's crap...

Having said that, and having done some further research, there appears to be a few places claiming to be the Oldest Inn/Pub in England:

http://www.bingleyarms.co.uk/history.php 953AD
The old Ferryboat in Hollwell - allegedly 560AD!!

Here's a list: Your Pigeon Coop is on it, and apparently the one currently recognised to be the oldest... But considering the use of the building at the time, and the dates of some of the other pub's, personally I would consider that extremely debateable...
http://www.fatbadgers.co.uk/britain/old.htm

Plus it gives Chuck more excuses to visit more pubs... wink

As quoted by GTS Dave in his very own links ........LMFAO.......

YE OLDE FIGHTING COCKS
St Albans, Hertfordshire

Located alongside the River Ver, in the shadow of the wonderful St. Albans abbey, the Fighting Cocks has one of the strongest claims to be the oldest. Cockfighting was banned long ago, but the original pit is now one of the bars. Originally a medieval dovecote, but with documents that seem to prove that a pub stood here in 795. Some believe its the oldest true pub, as opposed to a tavern or inn with accommodation. It's also believed that Oliver Cromwell kept his horse in the bar when he stayed here.

Its even in the guiness book of records...
