When the shift light is orange its telling you "Don't shift yet" when its red it says "For gods sake, shift will you." anywhere else in the rev band is fair game. Seriously if the skip shift is on, you shouldn't be shifting anyway and if you must then you may as well put it in 4th anyway because your clearly not going anywhere soon.

Yes please Baz!

And to answer Neil, I didn't know it went red... I've only had the car in the cold and its already surprised me how much faster it is than the other one but given the lack of grip I've been very careful not to use it. I live in a town so pulling away in our admittedly light traffic and having to stay in first is a real pain!

There is not a lot in it
Dodge Viper second generation, phase II SR
• 0-60 mph (97 km/h): 4.0 sec[7]
• 0-100 mph (160 km/h): 8.6 sec[citation needed]

Dodge Viper third generation (SRT-10 roadster)[8]
• 0-60 mph (97 km/h): 3.9 sec
• 0-100 mph (160 km/h): 8.36 sec

My dear chap may I remind you that first gear is good for circa 60mph. This makes it an extremely convenient gear to use surely biggrin

Was that problem eliminated on the UK cars? Don't remenber not being able to shift at low speeds. Mine is a Dodge UK.

Thanks.

Eduardo.

You'd think so wouldn't you but I am wondering if my UK spec GTS is powered down even though I have a derestricted airbox and deleted exhaust restriction. The SRT pulls more strongly in gear (i've not been going for off the line races owing to the lack of traction in this weather...) so its also probably the torque difference plus the vague although unlikely 'cold air' difference as I never normally drive the GTS in the winter.

So is mine but its quite possible its been fixed by a previous owner. Do you notice an orange light in the middle of the dash as you pull away in first?
