Been a bit busy and not a chance to come on the forum here in ages, anyway happy new year, and thought I'd give a few a smile with this Viper F1 project eek Its 2 cylinders over spec, quite a few cc over, and weight...the engine weighs as much as the whole car less engine (!) I should never be left alone with out 'adult' supervision and an F1 car, LOL. After getting in a lot of overtime Nov and Dec I was able to recently purchase a few spare parts needed to complete the project.

Hi Mark, called by Neil the other night and heard you have yourself a Mamba now, congratulations, thats one sweet car, and a really good all rounder. The handling and brakes will blow you away on track biggrin Energy... need more, lots to do yet!

Neil, not up and running just yet! I'll be glad when that red CC leaves soon, and I'll get the garage space back!

Might need some of those dry for life myself... eek

Edit: Nad!

Hi Nad, yup I have a lovely new addition to the family here which I am very much looking forward to enjoying slightly better weather in than we are currently experiencing! The brakes are great and the power difference also quite noticeable as well! Thanks for your thoughts!

Hi Nad,

Now I know why you were interested in my friend Ant's Jordan F1 car he recently had up for sale!

Glad you didn't get that one it's yellow / black - pretty common colour combo for Vipers biggrin

I am very sad to admit that I have only just registered the significance of the writing on the car itself (I'm clearly not the sharpest tack in the box!), a quick google uncovered this. Very impressive indeed (is it real??)!

Hey Mark,

The car is the real McCoy. Its an ex works Honda F1 2007/08, raced by Rubens Barrichello in 12 out of 18 races in the '07 season, and did just over 8000 racing km's on circuits all over the world. We were very lucky to get the car, as modern F1 cars just don't come up for sale. We've been looking for a single seater for some time, but didn't really expect it to be an F1 car. But, hey, you only live once!

OMG, those track cars were not hanging about, no Sunday drivers, but the F1...they looked unreal. We are hoping to be able to go testing at Spa, its an amazing circuit in many ways. Also looking forwards to trying the new Donington.

PS heres Jenson driving Goodwood '08, not easy with such a small clutch getting it off:

So the clutch...on the left: we have Honda F1, middle: full carbon GT2 Viper, and right: OE Viper!

we did some glass display cases for AP Racing many moons ago, which had about 5 F1 clutch's inside even back then they were £12K each and were told they had to stored in a safe when not on show, not so much of the value but the technology inside them

they have supplied most of the F1 teams over decades, check out their latest news on the column on the right

http://www.apracing.com/info/detail.asp?newsStory=...

i can take a good guess yours is a AP product Nad

Our Honda F1 is Sachs and has its own cushion-lined carbon travel box! The Viper carbon carbon is Tilton, but you are right AP do supply some nice carbon ones and brakes and also do the paddle operated clutch (as F1 cars only have 2 pedals!).
