Hi to all,

As anyone heard in UK of the bearing failures that have been related to extended high G turns in track that cause the oil in the pan to slosh to one side and starve the pick-up.

Aparantly The Comp coupe swinging oil pick-up and pan are supposed to reduce the possibility of this happening,

I am thiniking of doing few track days, Am i safe without this upgraded oil pan? Or should i upgrade? Not sure where i should have it done and where to get the part from if so.

Thanks.

Mine is an 05 SRT10 model.

Eduardo.

I did a lot of research on this before I did an upgrade on mine and I went with Dan's product it is slightly better than the comp coupe version and cheaper.

Took me with a ramp about 40 minutes the longest part being taking off the belly plate and replacing it, you need no gaskets just a dab of silicone in the corners and off you go.

Its worth noting that very few tracks in the UK have turns long enough to cuase the problem, tracks in the US have banking for some distance and with Motons and sticky tyres then oil movement can be a problem.

I think you biggest problem may be noise, on my first trackday at Goodwood I was 102db on a 105 trackday so just in, if you have a Corsa you will be about 105-107db that figure will not get you on the track.

Thanks

Eduardo.

For Spa I would think its a good idea, plus since I have had it I stop looking at the oil preesure gauge while going round complex corners sonar which has given me more time to concentratebounce

Thanks Paul.

Did you have to pay much for shipping it from the US?

Thanks.

Eduardo.

Thank you guys,

Will get her noise tested this Saturday at Oulton.

One quick question too please , does your power steering feel quite eavy compare to other steerings?
My car keeps following all the road imperfections and i feel that i am fighting the steering all the time to keep the car straight

Thanks.

Eduardo.

Sorry, should have explained myself better. Does go straight when road is straight but as it follows all the road cambers and the streering feels quite eavy i am fighting it.

thats pretty normal im afraid, big tyres on the back and all that tracking in ruts and grooves on our crappy roads. Go to Germany and things improve vastly wink

On the road try not to fight it I drive mine with a light touch on the wheel, let the car do the work, non runflats will help.

Also worth noting your radiator fan is driven by the PS pump, so when the engine is warm and the fan on the PS can feel a bit strange.

Mine (Gen II GTS) had the wandering problem really badly when I got it, however, new tyres (PS2's) and an alignment totally changed it, whilst it still follows a camber its not fighting you back whilst going in a straight line and overtaking is no longer a fight. I was worried about the car when I first drove it after those two changes its just a stunning drive!

Took it to Elite just down the road from me in Mannings Heath, they have a Beissbath laser computer aligny thing and it had the Viper settings in it. The chap who did it had seen the car round locally and was really keen to do a good job. Having said that when I took my five in there one of the jubs managed to jack the car up using the sill and not that jack point... Think its pot luck with places like that tbh.
