Hey guys,

Went for a nice drive today, but came back with some questions.

First I pulled 2 engine codes at the same time:
P0121 throttle pedal position sensor/ switch a circuit range / performance problem
(think that the TPS sensor detected a volt problem? how to check and fix?)
P1495 leak detected pump solenoid circuit
(will remove front facia to see if there's a leak or something)

When I came back home, I wanted to check the air exhaust vents, and on both sides the top one are complete loose curse

Offcourse I want to fix this, but how? Can't find anything on the internet OR I need to be a VCA member and I'm not a member yet...

Anyone here who can help me out??

Sorry forgot to add there is also a small electice pump by the canister that performs the evac operation, this runs when the car is turned off to pump any petrol vapur back to the evac carbon filled canister/back the the tank.

@viperdave

I mean the vents in the back of the trunk who are there to release pressure from the car if you close the doors.

Those are one-way vents, but because 2 of them in my car came loose of the brackets exhaust fumes are coming in through them causing me to have headaches when on WOT yuck

I don't really see how to get them back in place without removing the rear quarter panel, so maybe someone over here can help me out....

Cheers Mark!

Hi Kees,

P0121: TPS voltage does not agree with MAP

When monitored: With the engine running and no MAP sensor or TP sensor trouble codes.

Set condition: Engine speed must be greater then 1600 RPM for all TPS testing.

Theory of operation: The TP sensor contains a potentionmeter that is operated by the throttle blade shaft. As a throttle plate rotates, the TP sensor provides a variable 0 to 5-volt signal to PCM. The voltage is directly proportional to throttle angle. When the throttle plate is at rest, the voltage is low. When the throttle is fully open, the voltage is high. With this signal, the PCM can determine precise throttle position under all operating conditions. The TP sensor receives a 5-volt supply from the PCM. The sensor ground is provided by the PCM.

Possible causes:
Failed PCM
TP sensor failure
Mechanical failure
Connector terminals
Connector wires
Vehicle speed sensor
MAP sensor

P1495: Leak detection pump solenoid curcuit

When monitored: Ignition on and battery voltage greater then 10.4 volts.

Set condition: The state of the solenoid circuit does not change.

Theory of operation: The PCM provides ground for the solenoid and 12-volts comes from ignition output. When the soleniod is energized, it allows engine vacuum to enter the pump and draw the diaphragm up, thus allowing atmospheric pressure to enter the pump cavity. When the solenoid is de-energized, it vents the engine vacuum thus permitting the spring to drive the diaphragm down, forcing air out of the pump cavity into the vent system. When the soleniod is energized and de-energized, the cycle is repeated, which creates flow in a typical diaphragm pump fashion.

Possible causes:
Open or shorted LDP soleniod control circuit
Leak detection pump soleniod failure
PCM failure
Connectors
Wires

As to how to get to your air exhausters, you'll need to remove your tail light closer panel. The exhausters clip in from the outside. If you need any of them [there are 4 per GTS], I keep them in stock. cool

Hope this helps?

Cheers!

So once you have figured out what you need, don't be calling anyone else for parts, Chuck is the only supplier to come on here and give you advice and you can be sure if you will be significantly better of with 2nds he will also tell you that as well.

Are you a member of the VCA? there is an illustrated upgrade on the VCA forum on fixing these but they are only available to members, not really keen to post the details here as then i will wonder why i am paying my fees if we give away the benefits for free, unfortunately i don't have any direct experience of this or else i would post up what i know, so if you are a member it may be worth getting fully registered on the board and take a look in that forum.

@viperdave,

Not yet a vca member. Not really see the big benefits of being a member when most info can be found elsewhere and a buddy of my is member, so if I really need to see a topic, I can use his account.

IF I where living in usa I would be member much sooner. Just for now, I can use the money saved by not being a member.... maybe next year.
