Does anybody know the uk bulb code equivalent for the side markers. Mine has two empty sockets and when I asked in the local auto factors for a 194 bulb they looked at me as if I had just landed from another planet.

Even if I just knew the power rating it would be a start.

Yep they are the ones.

It was looking at your pick that reminded me that I hadn't done anything about mine since my failed attempt at getting them in feb.

interesting anorak fact spotted by 'superb' on sunday all the cars on the right handside of the car park had clear lenses/silver bulbs where as those on the left had OE

PM sent thanks

Yep I still have the orange ones sans bulb. Not sure why no bulbs as other cars have side markers lit up on the road. Maybe it’s a European thing . And I though they would be pretty standard so was a bit surprised by the reaction I got trying to buy them.

The clear ones look good on yours but I’m not convinced on the blue/white unless they look naff when lit up.

Think the bulb you need is a 504 standard side light on the likes of Escort etc

I have them on my blue/white and think they look good? Haven't bothered wiring in the bulbs though - just blanked off the hole with silver foil

a couple of extra bulbs won't add that much weight Graham

The bulbs/or wires (if your unlucky) are removed for the SVA. Bulbs are in the post Dave

This place is great.
Within a few hours I’ve got a bulb code that may be understood in a UK shop
A set of bulbs in the post. Neil a big
And I’ve managed to upset Graham.

No seriously the clear ones look good on blue/white, just not high on my mod list at present.

Thanks everyone

12v 5w capless bulb is a 501. Also available in silver finish but that illuminates orange, useful for those clear lights. Another tip for the real anorak (like me )is to remove the orange lens from the "in headlight" front indicators and fit silver bulbs.....does away with those nasty orange round bits and looks generally cooler !!

Well done Joel I was close but its been 20 years since I worked in the Motor Trade (man and boy )

Find it hard to believe your local shop couldn't help.

Bulbs arrived in one piece, thanks again Neil.

Yeah I was pretty shocked when they couldn’t help, maybe they were as well but there was not a ‘what’s it for?’ or anything just tap tap tap on the computer and a no. Supposed to be one of the biggest suppliers in the south, but I suppose Saturday afternoon was not a good time.

Anyway the viper will be getting a treat at the weekend I’ll fit the bulbs at the same time as the VEC 1 I just brought from Ray. There’s got to be at least 10 hp extra from each bulb I reckon plus whatever the VEC can do.

Thought I was going to fail the MOT today because of these.

Has anyone else noticed that if you have the headlights on and indicate the side markers flash alternate to the indicators.

The examiner had a double take but said nothing. I guess letting them drive it rather than put it on the break rollers was enough to get it through.
