Anyone with a Gen4 coupe?
Discussion
Some Gen4's states side for only $10k more than the 2006 model. (ie) Starting from $55k odd.
Now from what I read there are loads of changes and the 08 model is much better, less heat issue, more fuel efficient, more power, better ride and gearbox/shift etc.
Has anyone here driven one to compare against earlier model years. I only have gen2 coupe experience

havent driven a gen4 but have owned all the others, it will be better than the gen2 and 3 thats for sure, every viper model changed things have improved and gone forwards quite a bit
(perhaps not the styling some might say )
55 does sounds cheap, one of those awkward colours that are hard to shift or slightly higher mileage than normal ?

Seems worth a bit more over the Gen3 stuff for sure.

$52k starting bid. But some "issues" to check. Im sure prices arnt far off heading into the $50k range on a general basis.

Like Neil said, problem colour, over produced and not good in drab conditions. FL/CA sun its fantastic but...
Many dealers pre-ordered them blind as they were red and part of the first colour batch, it was the top selling colour in 08 because of this and as top colour it was on the options chart for 09 when only a handful were made.
Venom red will always sell for less I'm afraid, i know of where there is still an unregistered 08 convertible in FL. about the best place for such a car and still its not sold.

less heat issue, YES.....engine runs cool, inside cool
more fuel efficient, YES....we did a 12 hour drive yesterday through the Alps. After 350 km I filed up 46 liter of fuel.
more power, better ride and gearbox/shift etc....YES, YES, YES. Clutch and shifting are MUCH better
Has anyone here driven one to compare against earlier model years. I only have gen2 coupe experience...I have driven all 4 GENs and the GEN-4 is a far better driving car than anything else before built at CAAP.
The only minor minus is that the engine lost a little bit of low end torque, but the GEN-4 is still a lot faster than a Gen-2 or a Gen-3

I guess you could always drop the clutch at higer rpm if you wanted more torque!
why would you ever want to do that in a viper.Driving a viper is all about managing the torque to keep it down below the limit of traction.
About the only time you would notice less low end torque would be in gear acceleration, so plan ahead and be in the right gear first.
