Hi Tony,
Thanks for the heads up, its a very interesting film and very sad. It's very odd that the film makers didn't have Stirling Moss included as he is the only other living Merc driver from the 55 race. Maybe he wanted to much ££££££ for his imput?. The original rememberance marker is still at the spot of the accident but I would think the ACO would rather forget what happened. In 1956 ACO did also build a chapel after the crash at the same time of the rebuilding of the pits, this was used for Sunday services untill the early 1990's, it seemed to be removed from Le Mans visitor info in 1991 , this was the same time as the new and current pits was built so my guessing is it was pulled down at this time.It was located near the inside of the track close to the Dunlop Bridge.I do have some original press documments from the time relating to it but I'm sure know body is realy interested so I won't post the picture unless asked to hehe I expect I'm gonna get a "yawn" posted from "the fish"hehe

Hi Tom
I had read about the tragedy but I had not realised just how horrific it was. I thought the same about Sterling Moss but perhaps he just did not want to be reminded about it. I also watched the Top Gear tribute to Ayrton Senna and it was a real eye opener that the F1 cars driven as late as the early nineties were incredibly powerful but had little in the way of protection for the drivers and the couple of clips they showed of Senna in action really highlighted the difference in driving skill compared with today. Shows how easily we forget things.

Yes, the TopGear programme with Senna footage was just fantastic, it's such a bcensoredy shame that he was killed by "that" Williams car, it was not driver error IMOP but a sheered steering rack, but that another story.
One thing that I can tell you is way back in his Formula Ford days he came into the pits during testing and complained of low tyre pressure in his rear left, he felt it was down by just 2 pound, they checked that rear left and found he was correct.
Now thats what I call driving by the seat of your pants! The first lap of the 1993 Donnington Park Grand Prix was one of the greatest laps of all time? In the rain, overtaking Schumacker, Wendlinger, Hill, Prost, that's three world champions in one lap! Looking forward to film when it comes out, should be great viewing for us petrol heads.
