viper comp coupe gearbox on ebay
Discussion
Vipers also have a different midplate, tailhousing and have a 30 spline mainshaft so a different split yoke is needed. Also some machining is needed to get a 30 spline mainshaft to work, as the monaros have a 27 spline mainshaft. The chevy ssr has a 32 spline mainshaft and double/triple cone synchros like the M12 monaro gearboxes. But the viper has a 1 piece countershaft so i shouldnt break that, a custom spacer is required so that it works with a monaro tail housing. I think the viper also has hardened gears as standard and maybe even a stronger 3/4 shift fork.

Not wanting to put you off.But it would be a lot easier just to have a box built to that spec from the US, like I did.
The front face on a Viper T56 is different, input shaft, shifter position, tail housing, speedo teeth etc etc. There are lots of differences.
Trying to get all that work carried out in the UK could be a nightmare I imagine.
Obviously if it was for a Viper install...this box would be an excellent buy

Stevie i can use the internals of this box to make a monaro box which has a one piece countershaft for not alot of money. All i need is a spacer for the countershaft.
To build a viperised box then yes it may be tricky to get the machine work done, but i like a challenge. Plus this way i can have a good working spare.
A viperised box from d&d will cost around £3800 delivered and taxed due to the poor exchange rate
