Hi,i assume it has to do that for access to the key lock.
You could ditch the whole thing and get a usa style plate made.
Or a bike plate.
These are narrower so you could fix them on with double sided tape
or velcro.
cheersbiggrin

Thanks for the tip.
I live in Finland and personalized license plates are 1000 euros here so they are not my first option.
USA style plates would be illegal.

I tried to ask one from my local Toyota dealer.
The customer service was the poorest I've ever had. They had no intention to help me and in practice told me to go to hell.
Apparently he had no idea what I was talking about and probably didn't even know there's a Toyota called MR2.

Not sure of the lay-out of Finnish plates, but if possible, don't use the plate bracket. Cut a small hole in the plate to access the lock. Works a treat!

The hole would work great but it's illegal to do modifications for the plate and it probably wouldn't pass the annual inspection here.
The plate is a little shorter than the UK one (118 mm x 442 mm).

Just done a bit of Googling for you...

Looks like the 1968 - 1971 Chevy Impala had one: They are on back order at the moment, but this guy might be able to get you one...
