It looks as if its time for me to get a new battery has any one fitted a Optima battery or is that the standard fitment? http://www.optimabattery.co.uk/ also are thay sealed as I might get one shipped

They don't fit GEN2 properly, you have to cut the top posts of the clear the frame and in the process will likely ruin the battery. I have a brand new one on my garage floor that was destroyed by such treatment.

US automotive and get an AC DELCO battery, Best one i have had in the viper so far.

Had the same thing happen a few years ago, although I did manage to get my money back.
Apparently, re-soldering a cut post re-makes the electrical circuit - got to be worth a try.
In the end I got a new battery from the local Dodge/Chrysler dealer.

I had an Optima red top battery in mine up until recently, didnt need to cut the tops off as i mounted it sideways, fitted in there fine.
There is no fluid liquid in there they are sealed,you can mount them either way.

Sorry was busy last weekend. you can probably have it if you want to try it in place to see how it lines up to your frame. I don't think there was any way it was going in differently though on my gen 2
