crack windscreen

i started my car after a month cleaned it a bit let the engine idle for 10 minutes or so sat in the car decided to put the heating on full blast next thing my windsreen cracked in front of me why would that happen. does anyone have a spare windsreen for the gts i saw 1 for sale few months ago.
