2002 GTS arriving UK shortly.
Anybody got any good tips on the matter of side repeater lights, rear fog lamp etc ?
Drilling the side wings for repeater lights is a no-no as far as I'm concerned.
Seen some mounted in the door/bonnet opening, does anybody make a tailored mounting bracket or part for this ?
How have most people wired in the fog lamp ? Off the main side light / headlight switch ? ( Pulling the switch out lights the front driving lights which could also be connected up to light the rear fog lamp ? )
Any other problems anybody experienced ?
I'd be pleased to hear from you with any other info, however trivial, that may help me get the car through registration smoothly and with minimal butchery to my car !!
Cheers

Hi Chris it was your mean drag car that lined up against Fishboys yellow GTS at santapod a few years ago, did you sell it in the end ?
what colour GTS are you going for ?

for the SVA Dr Bob has it all sorted, he can give you the right info its all probably worth using the same test centre which has seen a lot of vipers pass through up near Luton, i take it the newer IVA test hasnt changed to much for a viper

Dr.Bob uses a euro rear cluster that is DOT stamped, the US ones arent youll need one of those. There isnt really a kit you can buy for the light/fog problems they are just put together, but going for the side repeaters in the hood/door opening works and that saves drilling holes in the hood

the headlight main lamps will just need rotating a few degrees, that will point them in the right direction, there is a notch which puts them in the correct position. Thats a simple job to do

if your car is running Michelins youll also need a letter off Michelin UK as the rear tyres dont have the correct markings on them, but they hand the letter out easily.

prepping a stock GTS for the test isnt to difficult, if its modded thats when the problems may arise

Front indicator lamps are an issue too - the electrics need splicing out to provide separate indicators and side lights - not a big job.

If you don`t want to do the work yourself I used Paul Strudwick at Teslayn Engineering near Bicester. They did all the work on my 2001 ACR to get it through the then SVA including the fog and fitting side repeaters without drilling into the paintwork. It was hassle free - just left them the car for a week.

Guys, Muchos Gracias (thanks very much) for all your tips & info.
Anyone got phone numbers / contact details for:
1. Dr Bob
2. Paul Strudwick at Teslayn
3. The test centre at Bicester
4. Michelin Tyre contact person

I've bought one of the 2002 Final Edition cars (red with the white stripes). One owner with 7000 on the clock. Needless to say, she's "rather" tasty !! In L.A. waiting to go into a container as we speak.

I still have the drag car, just don't get that much time to run her due to work etc.
Last time out at the November Fireworks at the Pod she ran 7.83 @ 173, then an aborted sideways run on a damp track, in the dark, with a best ever 60" of 1.110. Data equated to a 7.76 - oh, what may have been ????

Any further tips greatly appreciated.

Cheers Chaps

It was more the fact that there wasn't any over here and I couldn't be faffed with importing... (Not patient enough for the wait).

Look forward to seeing it!
