Poor guy left his Cobra replica at the garage for an mot and some spotty 18 year old mechanic decided to take it for a spin
http://www.eastbourneherald.co.uk/news/Family-of-t...

I happen to know he was having it mot'd before putting it up for sale which makes it even worse. Dont let your Vipers oput of your sight is the lesson here chaps.

Couldn't say it better! I really hope the mother farther and baby recover.

The really sad thing is it will make people in the area really worried about "sports cars".

Its the same thing that happened to dogs a few years ago. Soon you will see mothers pulling therir chilldren to safety when they see a TVR gdriving, at normal speeds, down the road!

I never gave up my keys when it needed a windscreen or let it out of my sight for that reason

Me either, car does not leave my sight when in for an MOT... Just noted that the news article says it was a TVR sports car... That looks like a Cobra Daytona Replica to me?

Thank god the baby was alright! Here's hoping the father pulls through ok!

Similar thing happened to me about 10 years ago, left a car with a valeter prior to sale (BM 325sport) when it was about 4 years old, the valeter decided to go for a joy ride and totalled it.
Police would not charge him with theft as ''he wasnt permanatly going to deprive me of it'' and as a result insurance would not pay out on it.
I never got a penny but I did get even!

Yes you are right Dave and probably the best Daytona replica in the country. Its probably a good thing the newspaper got the make wrong as the mere mention of replica makes some people think of shoddily built kit cars but this was a perfect example of a genuine replica which is something else entirely.

I had mine MOT`d recently, while it was being done i just happened to look out side due to boredom as you do and seen 2 of the guys from the garage had been out in mine, and just on there way back in, when questioned apparently they had to do a brake test as it was to wide for a rolling road ummmmmmmmm.
This is a big modern Chrysler/Mercedes main dealers, of course they dont have big wide cars.
I certainly can`t remember or notice it being driven on a public highway the last time it was MOT`d there. But i may be wrong.

The MOT centre I take mine to have only ever done the brake test in the carpark, there is no way the car would be leaving the garage in someone elses hands personally... I wouldn't let that happen again if I were you Mike... If they need to do that, go with them.

viper brake test should only ever be done on the road or car park due to the LSD. Find somewhere you trust and has consistent staff you can trust and even then keep an eye on it.
