had a good chat with Dr-BOB and a couple of other Viper owners at the Autosports show at the weekend about all things Viper.
one of the things that came up was the Dunsfold event.
I've got Fatboy18 and The Stoat doing some track stuff but i'd really like to get the Viper club to static display as many Vipers as possible.

we're expecting around 8-10,000 people to come along this time and we have a long list of car clubs displaying. Vipers are serious head turners as my short time driving Andy's car has proved.

normal entrance fee is £7 per peson but for car club static displays it's £7 per car.
we're charging because it's a charity event and to be frank we want to raise as much as we can. but there's plenty going on that's worth the entry fee alone;

Plus, you get prime parking site and get to see the track guys practising before the public get there as well as finding out what the blue riband cars will be.

i dont want to say too much more as the event hasn't been released officialy as yet
but if anyone has any questions please email me through my profile.

Sadly not, someone tried that last time and we had to pacify Dunsfold to let us come back this year frown

however i'm happy to place any static display vipers on the reserve drivers list in the event we need more or someone drops out.
it will mean you'll need to attend the drivers briefing around 8.30am though.

Hopefully i'm in again this year , twas a real hoot last year ,i know harsh is putting alot of effort into this years event, so it can only get better, and lets hope the weather holds this year to.
Dont know if some members will fancy paying to get in though ,cos its going to cost some the best part of £100 to get there and back ?
we shall see.as it would be nice to get a few on show as well!

As you know I am a Sporting Bear and have now spent nearly 10 years raising money for childrens charity and I must admit I love it.

But charging £7.00 each vehicle only so you have a reason to charge £7.00 each to the public for entry and that allows us to park on the bumpy grass and watch the more fortunate invited few to enjoy themselves on the track leaves me totally cold and with little interest in the event.

The Bears always used to do a charity track day at Brooklands until we lost the runway, they are a slick operation and I am sure we could assist you using Brooklands as a figure head, they have RAC Marshals and the Bears for the admin perhaps next year???

Just my 10 cents

I feel much the same really, I will quite happily go if there are a few of us attending, as it would be good to get the Club together at an event like this. But having said that I did hear that last year, if you weren't driving, there was less than very little do do once you were there, which is all good and well if you are one of the chosen few drivers, but to stand around doing nothing on an airfield isn't all that inspiring, especially when many of us will be having to travel quite some distance to attend.

I will happily give the event my backing, and assist in getting some club cars together, if I can, but I would like to confirm what is there to do, and what is going on, prior to asking Club members to drive to show their cars, pay to get in, and then end up stand around doing nothing all day.

I do not mean the above to sound bad, but most of our club is spread very thinly around the country, with very few cars in the general area of Dunsfold, so as Paul has already said above it will cost alot of our members a fair bit in fuel etc to be there... Please bear this in mind.

None of us have any problems with helping out Charities as you know Mark, but from what I can gather last year there was a Static Helicopter and Fire Engine, along with the few cars on show... I'd like to know there will be more than that there this year before any of us commit ourselves to a full day there.

At Wings & Wheels there is loads going on, as well as the vehicle & air displays, there is all the stalls and stands to take a look at along with all the car clubs etc, I just don't get the impression that this is on that kind of scale.

If someone could PM me some further details it would be appreciated.

Hi guys i totally understand your thought processes. I'm a sporting bear too.
The parking is on the main runway not the grass...no idea where you got that from, it was runway last year as well.

There's a lot more going on this year than last year,
we have around 30 car clubs displaying probably around 1000 cars in total.
a number of manufacturers, this number will only grow between now and May.
there's a fun fair with all the major rides,
helicopter rides,
driver training area,
DD bus rides,
bouncy castles,
stands from niche car builders and car related items,
other types of stalls,
video games,
live bands,
DJ,
plane and helicopter display
kids rides including Roary the racing car
2 large marquees with various things going on inside.
more rides than last year and a host of other things i've probably forgotten.
we're still working on other things to provide at the event as well.

we only had 3 months to plan this last year, this year we have already been at it for 3 months.
It's totally non commercial, i'm giving my time for free as is everyone else involved in order to raise as much as possible for the charity. Every penny raised goes to the trust.

As you can imagine it's not cheap to get all the infrastructure sorted for a large event like this and naturally we want to make sure we maximise the revenue.

Wings and wheels is a commercial event this isn't.
£7 for car entry is less than the £7 per person we're charging the general public.
I can understand it if you dont feel it's worth the effort to turn up, but i'm working hard to make this event the best it can be. The guys giving rides are doing so free of charge and the fuel and wear and tear on our cars will cost us a fair bit.

if you took the £7 in isolation it's not much for a day out, put it in the context of the money going to a charity and i feel it's not much to pay.

Are any of you guys interested in supporting this event? if not, please let me know as i am talking to more owners clubs all the time and i may need the numbers and potential driving spaces i'd earmarked for the Viper Club if you'd prefer not to attend.

Hey Baz, i'm on it mate wink

ok guys can we have a bit of a list for those that are up for displaying?

i'd need at least 6 to make it viable cordoning off an Area for you.
However if you cant manage that many, those that still wish to come are welcome to join the Petrolhead Nirvana display....lets see how we go

The way I see it, the size of your wheels with each rotation you should be covering more distance, therefore using less fuel so you should be able to make it biggrin
