First of all....HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!

ive bought a replacement JVC cd player for my 1997 GTS when she finally arrives this month, only changing it because i want one with a usb slot so i can put some tunes on a memory stick and not worry about getting me cd,s scratched,
the question is,is it easy taking the factory unit out,i dont wanna break any clips on the dash surround if there is any,ive bought an iso lead to plug in ready,
grateful of any tips,thankssmile

stereo comes out easy, though not sure how difficult it will be to connect to the alpine amp

speedo is linked to the stereo (that catches a few out) so the volume go up/down automatically depending on speed, if you dont get the right wire connected youll have no speedo, Dr Bob will know

All the tunes you'll ever want come from under the bonnet!

Its not a straight swap......

Neil is right about the speedo wire if left conected it will stop the speedo working..

Also the OE unit has a din lead that goes from the headunit to the amp then off to the speakers,There is NO PHONO outputs..

You will need to make a phono to din lead if keeping the OE amp and speakers...

I replaced mine with a better Alpine unit which had the same connectors as the OEM Alpine - made it a simple replacement. Might be worth seeing if Alpine do a unit like the one you want?

I'm preety sure i have the same unit as Larry. power plug is the same but you will still need the adapter for the amp..

I've been toying with putting in one of the new Alpine units with built in Parrot Bluetooth system.. Seem to be available for under £200 at the moment and has all the toys you are likely to need... Will probably need a wiring harness to be made up though as I doubt the new Alpine's will be a straight swap for the old one... Could be wrong there though...

This is one of the models they have out at the moment

reminds me of the BM i-drive knob

£160 is hardly high end for a heat unit nismo, around here at least biggrin
i think Graham spent more than that just on his speaker cable for his GTS wink
