My 2000 GTS has 2 alarm systems, and one of them is causing a problem, but I don't know which- can anybody help?
It has the factory alarm and a Concept 600 alarm. Recently, one of the alarms has started going off when set, and twice now, as I'm driving along!

It makes the most unholy noise, sounding like an insane, stupidly loud, fruit machine - I have never heard another car alarm like it. It doesn't stop the car from being driven. It would be very funny, but its happening to me! irked

At least if I knew which alarm system was causing the problem, I could make a start. I've been on the US forum, and apparently a dodgy hood switch can cause a problem, so I shall check that out anyway.

If anyone can offer any info on tracking this down it would be a great help.

Thanks in anticpiation
Rich

Gen 2 factory alarm uses the horn to make noise, id look at the aftermarket one with the description of the sound its making, unless its a shared sensor

Have you tried setting off the alarms manually and then trying each remote to switch them off so that you can be certain of which one it is?

Have to admit I haven't tried it on the GenII alarm I have, so not sure if this will work, but on old alarms I have had in the past holding down the main setting button can set off the alarm (kind of like a panic alarm) might be worth a try with each remote to assist in seeing which one it is?

is the problem intermittent,or dose it go off as soon as it is set ?
if its intermittent check the sensors for spiders ,especially if its been standing for a while.

Thanks for the suggestions

I've set the factory alarm off just now as you suggest and it is just the horn sounding, so it is the after market alarm that's the problem (I can't get it to go off though!). Next step will be to go on a spider hunt - it is definitely intermitent - took it out today for a drive and had no problem at all. It is now washed and garaged!
Cheers
