Can't find the post for this, but I have the original press photo of when the first Chrysler '97 GTS's docked in the UK, also the mag articles. Was told someone was looking for the pic in high res ? I guess I could scan it, not sure if any copyright problems with doing that, or get prints done? I also have several other press GTS shots from that time (got these with my car from Chrysler). What's funny is when Chrysler changed in 1999 to black / silver stripes (now Spuds car) they used an old pic of my car and photoshopped it black / silver! The same plate "A10 CYL" was transferred between press cars, until (with the help of Neil, thanks) I bought it, to put back onto where is was first displayed. rotate

It just says on Copyright for Editorial use only, I guess a high res scan would be the way to go rather than photographic prints?

I was given a folder from Chrysler back in '98, if I find a mo to organise what I've got, I'll bring them along to the meal (some I've had bluetacked on the wall so have got worse for wear). Just so others can see what we're on about, and check this is the one you want...let me know which one in the pic you think is yours?

Here's the other press pics I was talking about, it seems the original blue and white shots were just so good, they didn't take new pics in 1999 just photo shopped 1997 ones of my car!

Also a press shot of my '96 GTS-R I'm restoring, this is a rare shot and many of the pics were sent to Detroit for a book and not returned.

That's a nice pic on the quayside smile

Is that twin exhausts I see on this car - four in total or just both exiting on the one side?

As a footnote, the GTS is the feature of the 'All the cars I never bought' feature in Autocar this coming week.

Upper "exhaust" is just a cooling duct for the rear brakes.

I didn't know you were that into the GTS-R cars (hey, you should of said when you met up with us at Brookspeeds BBQ, I would have much rather chatted about R-cars than the compulsory purchase of my house you were asking about, and sale of the yellow GTS, I thought you knew the reason of, for garage space and to fund completion of the GTS-R). Anyway, the pics of the restoration, the web site will have first choice off, but if there’s a particular shot or info on something you want then let me know. As to "what kind of state" whistle the cars in now its been a long process which started with the chassis and boxes of parts back in 2001. Firstly I had in mind to make something of a fun track car using road car parts to complete, but in time and getting more involved with GT racing its now a full bare frame up restoration. GTS-R parts have been getting rarer than hens-teeth, but about the only item left to source is an original seat now (oh-no not seats topic again!!). The big leap forwards just recently was being able to borrow the original one-piece hood back from Oreca museum to get a mould made of it. I have been on to Oreca for years about it, and at one point they nearly sold me the original, then a load of guys left and I had to start again with them. The only other hoods I know for of this GT1 debut rare 1996 only spec, are in Canada (one on the car, and one spare) of the Canaska team highest placed Le Mans finisher. Late 1996 they evolved to the 2 piece hood / fascia and the GT1 one-piece moulds that were originally made by Reynard UK were broken up. Of the engine, the dry sump pump has recently been overhauled, new cam bearings installed the block, bores honed, and the heads sport valves as big as you can get! The gear box all freshly rebuilt, but diff still needs an overhaul. So that’s the "state" of play at the moment in a nutshell! bounce

INto GTS/R well Nad I think we all are at present the 52 car is for sale in France and I must admit I would love to own it and do some track events /days in her but at well over 120k just to much for a toy I have no room for, I would love to see the 51 car when its finished.

Well Neil, thought I was the only one with the French Oreca book, looks like you and I are both pipe and slippers potential.

Will definitely have to have a proper chat about this one when I see you next Nad, absolutely love the GTS-R's, I had no idea you had one, Bjorn mentioned the reason for the sale of the Yellow GTS was to fund a race project but didn't elaborate any further so I didn't realise that was what it was... This I have to see!

Regarding parts, I am sure that you are probably already aware, but Florent Moulin in France has alot of parts available, as well as owning several GTS-R's himself, I met him at Goodwood last year with the 52 car that Justin Bell was driving, pretty sure I saw some pics of you with him and/or the car at some point so you probably already know or know of, him.

GTSR replica???? that's given me some ideas, maybe if I just make one or two modification. Can't be that hard.
What would I need? A roll cage, some body mods, remove interior. I'll start tonight.

OOPs sorry Nad for thread hijack smile

Thanks mate I will check out the cover and try to remember to bring it to the Crimble Dinner for Nad to check out, not to much info on the viper as it follows the whole history of Oreca from its start.

I am sure that you really should get a pipe and slippers.......old boy like you getmecoat

Fantastic you all like the GTS-Rs… maybe I should have to look at fitting a passenger seat too then. The gen3 chassis was partly developed using GTS-R data, something to smile about next time your at the track, and yes please would like to take a look-see of that book. Thanks Dave, yes Florent and I know each other well, he’s a lovely guy and a superb driver (F1 cars also!). We swapped and helped eachother out with parts, as the earlier years R-cars were more narrow body compared to the later evolutions, and I had some spares we swapped for a sequential gear box that came from the Le Mans ’99 winner, I ended up putting this in Bjorn’s GTS (...think you had a ride in it at Gurston hill climb?) as I’m going to be periodically correct to 1996, with the race variant of the T56. Florent currently has 7 GTS-Rs …now that is a sight to be seen yescloud9

Colin, if Oreca didn’t come up trumps with the GT1 hood, I was going to ask you about doing a clay reproduction of it, and making a mould and hood. Theres some tribute cars, in USA nicely done with graphics / Autoform body parts, but I don’t know of any replicas other than graphics and street car editions. How’s garage progress going then? I’ve only been 8 years on it so far, but promised my truck a restoration this winter in the meantime. smash
