Send me a PM if you want to have a chat about this, there are definitely cars available that will fit your requirements. Do you have a preference of RT/10 or GTS?

I must say though, the only thing I think you will struggle with is the "fair discount to trade" comment, as there hasn't been much difference in these prices recently, and all the cars we would recommend would most definitely be very well loved and looked after.

Next year when taxes and spending cuts begin to bite you might find some more at a better price.
Of course every vehicle gets cheaper with time, but I think next year will be painful.

Plenty for sale in the USA wink Just keep your eye on the £ / $ rate smile There's a few of us in the club now who have gone this route, its not as complicated as some companies make out. But research is the key. Do you want an all original car or one with mods. Mods are expensive so finding a car with mods already done will save you monies wink Brake upgrades would be my first choice then Headers, exhaust system, Tyres are not cheap! If your buying a car from the States, better to get a new set of rubber put on the car over there wink The Viper registry is a good place for spec info. CARFAX search is a must, its the US equivalent to our HPI check, but more detailed, (although not foolproof). Try looking in the classifieds on the VCA Site. You will get a feel of current prices. oh and one more thing, quite a lot of Yellow cars in the UK club now so another colour might be good biggrin

well its almost winter hehe

Still looking also but nothing much on offer.I am not a garage but a private buyer so I would like to think I'd have first shot before a dealer.(He sounds like a dealer?). Also looking for a Blue/White GTS gen2 but don't want to import.Rather have an X Club car or from a long term owner, don't want to buy from a garage unless its a very good car with history from new.
Anyone out there! BTW I don't want to pay dealer money either, ig its the right car I'm happy to pay a strong price..If I had a wish list it would have to have a few engine mods (not Supercharged, just basic headers/exhaust and upgraded brakes would be just perfect). I have been looking for a while now and will continue to wait for the right car.(No..I don't want a Yellow, Silver, Black or Grey...Red maybe but would rather have one of the early 96/97 Blue's) .

Well I did some of it, the Carfax etc, + the car had wings and sticky out bits which I liked and a spare set of wheels and tyres, BUT I wish I had known just how worn the spare set of tyres were, they were good at the edges but there was not much meat left on them in the center, In Hindsight I should have got a new set of tyres put on the car frown I didn't know about the brakes on these cars before I bought mine, I'm used to them now but oh boy they really do need to be better! So if anybody asks I would recommend upgrading if they can afford it smile

i'll be the first to admit i don't know that much about them

i gather RT/10's are cheaper than GTS's

however there is a yellow old shape in the classifieds for £36,000 private sale and on a CAT D. Now, are these GTS versions worth that much more than the RT as foskers have a nice red RT for £29995 and its not a cat D?

Also some of the newer shape seem to be hitting low 30's now which is similar to the older shape

is it that the older shape is now more sought after?

sorry if i offend anyone I just can't quite work it out!
RT's have generally been selling cheaper than GTS', but having said that this is mainly due to the fact that the RT's available over here lately have been earlier models (94 - 96) whereas the GTS's have been later cars (97 -).

I would guess that generally there would not be a massive difference in value of a same year RT or GTS, but I am yet to see that happen over here, mainly as there just isn't enough cars in the UK to see it happen.

Regarding the newer shape (SRT-10), yes we have seen them selling for similar prices to good condition GTS' and as you have already mentioned yourself, this appears to be mainly due to the fact that the earlier cars are more sought after, and generally are the cars that were on the posters that people had on their walls and wanted.

There are a couple of '97 Blue & White GTS' available in the UK in extremely good condition and for less than the CatD in the classifieds, and with more modifications such as performance exhaust etc. If you are seriously looking I can help point you in the right direction.

Give me a call if you like and I will try and help if I can. (You have Mail)

Yes the GEN 2 GTS is the Iconic shape which is VIPER, The original Blue White stripes are the most Collectable. The early Gen 1 Vipers were first made in Red. Then other colours crept in, Black, Pale Yellow, Green! There have been many improvements from the early Gen 1 cars but there all good and still rare to see in the UK which is a good thing as it helps to keep prices buoyant smile The Gen 3 cars took on a different interior restyled body bigger wheels and better brakes. But the Gen 2 cars do seem to hold there price fairly well. In 2000 Engine specs were changed and these cars became known as Cream Puffs smile Prior to 2000 the Gen 2 cars had stronger internals which meant if you wanted to get big horsepower increases with Turbo or superchargers this was the preferred route, But You can still put a supercharger on a 'Cream puff' engine you just do not go to 8lb pulleys. I believe 6lb is fine smile In 2001 they introduced ABS, Some hardcore owners did not like this idea as the whole point of the Viper program was to keep driver aids to a minimum so you had to drive the car and learn its capabilities (speed, handling and braking) This is also why Vipers come with a Stick Shift 6 speed manual gearbox, (no auto available). These cars are really fun to drive but if you get it wrong they Bite!!! Venom style wink
