Insurance time for me again, just wondered if classic insurance is the way to go , I think Graham posted on this subject last year and was insured as a "classic".Venom is 1997. (Graham,s same year?)Current quote is £315 but hope to get it a little cheaper as a classic....any ideas folks?

Personally I think £315 if fkING CHEAP!!!!

But if you can get it cheaper, then all the best of luck to you mate...

I guess the old girl doesn't exactly see a great deal of use... I mean Baz get's a ribbing for his 300 or so miles a year, but your yearly average is probably even lower... Having said that yours has probably done more mileage than most cars in the club put together... It's just that most of that was probably done locked in a container.

I'm not sure quite where I'm going with this... It's been a long day... I'll get me coat...

Normal service has been resumed...

We used to deal with a company by the name of Cheished Car Underwriting Agency (CCUA) who used to do some great deals on Classic Car Insurance, but they don't deal with direct cases... You would need to find a broker who deals with them... I'll do some digging for you tomorrow and see if I can find out who deals with them. I know for certain that they would underwrite Vipers as I looked into it with them a few years back.

Leave it with me Tom... thumbup

Thanks Dave!, I will also wait to see if Graham posts on this topic as I thought he had a classic policy with a price in the £200 bracket.

CCUA do some EXTREMELY cheap premiums, but on the basis of limited mileage and age of single driver etc. They can also arrange cover for vehicles being used as wedding cars etc... And as I said yesterday will often also do agreed valuations as well... Always found them to be very good in the past.

Yep, Headley for me @ £195. Mine is due next month so will be interested to see the quote. I don't think it is a specific 'classic' insurance, he just mentioned at the time that now the car is over 10 years old, it gets cheaper. Only stipulation on the insurance was a 3000 mile limit per year, but you could add 1000 miles for £10 extra as and when needed.

We do have markets available but I don't want to promise you that I will beat your other rate as it would depend on all your other details. If you want to e-mail me your details I will get someone to call you and go through a quote.

Check also that you have some form of agreed value, cheap insurance is great but if its a total loss you getting a trade price of 20k is not going to help a replacement.

I did call Flux re the GT2 as I wanted an agreed of 80k they will ONLY insure a yank up to 50K no matter how you plead, in the end I went with Haggerty, who classic car mag raved over and for 80K's worth of cover it cost £800.

I was originally insured with Footman James but last renewal they let slip it was not an Agreed Value.

Insurance. You pays your money and you takes your chances

We have a couple insurers who do offer agreed value over 50k but their criteria is quite specific.

Did we actually take all your details and run the quote through the system?

If we did can you e-mail me your details so I can have a look at your file.

Yes you took all the details and came back with the 50K watershed plus a tracker, I mean if it was a 250 Ferrarri at 1.8 million would you insist on a tracker ??

After all the police would never spot the only GTS/R in Europe driving around at 3 in the morning.

The problem we have is the insurers will set the criteria for tracking devices rather than ourselves.

Can you e-mail me your details just so I can have at your file and see if we have missed any markets that wouldn't require a tracker.

My old Viper was with Flux with an immob..
But the new one they insisted on a CAT1 alarm immob and i didn't want2x alarm fobs.. So i siad i would fit a tracker instead as that would be self alerting to police/tracker of theft.. and they said no... So i went with Headley and saved £300 with no aftermarket alarm but a tracker (optional)...
