Well Well Well ! What a sorry state of affairs Guys I thought that even a murderer was supposed to get a fair trial.
Please let me introduce myself I have decided to call myself Outcast because it seems that both my newly acquired ex bent Silver Blue Viper GTS and I have been condemned already, so I figure that the name is a good choice.
I felt that it was appropriate in view of my by now apparent notoriety. To come on to the forum, I’m not normally a clubby type person having been a member of American car clubs previously and finding them to be almost Masonic and Snide
(I see nothing has changed) but I have noticed that my good friend Matt is becoming defensive of my position.
Why he should have to against people that seem to want to stick the knife into others is beyond me, are we as adults at the Ner Ner Na Ner stage like children? (Sad isn’t it).
Yes I am the owner of the Evil Silver Blue Viper GTS but surely even damaged Vipers are still Vipers do you forget what drew you to the vehicle in the first place? Have you lost the passion, the need, and the want that you felt with your first motorbike, car, girlfriend, and boyfriend (for the ladies) if you have then you’re driving the wrong car!
We have all been to shows in the past and sat our pride and joy next to a guy with a split window Moggy 1000 or a Cadillac Seville it does not matter what the car is or even in our eyes the condition it’s in what matters is the passion of the owner the care the effort and every god damn penny he or she has (we haven’t all got 50k + a year jobs) what matters is the effort that they have put into their vehicle that’s what counts,
You don’t have to like a car or an owner for that matter you don’t have to like how it’s trimmed or finished (fluffy dice included) but you do have to admire the person who owns the car and the time, effort, money, heart, and soul, that they have poured into their car.
So yes Gentlemen (and I use the term very loosely) and Ladies I have decided to take on this car Bent Straight whatever and I will give it a second chance to shine.
If I had purchased a box of bits (not the first time) and put it together it would still be a Viper
If It cost me a lot of money then so be it it’s my money not yours I have not asked anybody else to contribute to my expense and as for selling it well, that will be a bridge to cross as, if, and when I decide, I kept my last Corvette for twelve years so I don’t envisage this as a short term project.
I would have liked to come onto the forum in a friendlier manner but feel that like most of the UK (unlike the US) nobody wants anyone to do well (must be a British trait).
I also feel that information could have been passed freely back and forth since a collective mind on one subject is better than anyone of us struggling for information but since this will probably be first and last contribution to the forum I wish you all well.
Just to finish if anyone has any comments to make that are not defamatory or degrading I would love to hear them.
Kind Regards

after speaking to Matt, I reckon you struck a great deal, that car was practically brand new when the accident happened (1200 miles ?) as long your happy thats all that matters who care what anyone else thinks. We all know of the excitement of new ownership of any car and it doesn't seem to wear off with a Viper !
If you need any help I'm sure you'll get some here, first thing you need to do if it hasnt already is swap the exhaust for a free flow type so you can hear the engine note
It seems your only 30 or so miles from me so if you want to meet up when the weather improves let me know.

Ouch........glad I stayed out of that one. Anyway welcome to the club . By and large a fairly peaceful place but with a bit of good humoured wicked banter (mostly about seats !!!) but nothing serious. After all it takes all sorts to make a club both pessimists and optimists. Glad you got a viper and once again welcome.
Don't let that previous thread put you off - sometimes people trying to be helpful can be taken the wrong way. You know what you bought and willingly entered into it, so that makes it OK. I'm sure the car will be all you want it to be. Your biggest mistake is buying it this time of year like I did last year - it just has to rain every damn weekend!!!
Just one thing - you *MUST* bring it to a meet sometime - I have to admit that the Silver/Blue stripes is nice and I'd like to see it in the flesh
And don't let anyone tell you Red ones are faster

Hi and welcome 'cast-in' Viper owner, congrats on becoming a proud 'Dad'. You got a GTS just nicely run in, shame about the prang to any car...but, at least you and some of us know the real deal on this car, some cars you could buy and not know the full story on, your snake wasn't badly pranged at all, and was loved and totally babyied from new (don't think it's ever seen a mile on wet roads)!
PS,I was told by a member to give up on my '97 GTS after a tragic write off, no such a thought for me, I rebuilt him on a tight budget (new chassis, glass front / rear etc) and with out trying to sound big headed, but to get a point across, at a big race event mine was the quickest Viper on handling, so they can be put back together better than ever!

Come on I want to see a pic of her now she is straitened out. It sounds as if you knew what you were getting into and are prepared to get that viper back to full health, for which we should thank you.
Just take it easy now winter is drawing in and be careful on cold tyres and damp roads especially when it gets close to freezing, you don’t want to bend it the other way, it’ll end up looking like a snake, oh hang on it’s a viper its already a snake.(i'll get my coat)
Welcome and good luck.
Don't actually remember anyone slagging off the prospective owner but rather to ensure that people new that the car had been involved in an accident, that fact does not sit well with some people.
Add the fact that they were trying to sell the car as an original masterpeice at full price, if we had not commented then you or another owner could have been really upset, stitched up by the garage.
You will NEVER be an OUTCAST in my eyes but rather another to join our happy family, like it or not that is what we are, love us or hate us we will always be there for you.
Now change your name......please.
Hope to meet you soon.

Ditto to all the above,(except the bit about seats.....just leave it Joel and never go there again!).The problem with this kind of communication is that a word written can never convey the spoken word and sadly i think it can be easy to take things the wrong way in this kind of media.Let me wish you all the fun in the world with your Viper and look forward to meeting you and your car next year. The Viper club is a small one but let me assure you that its a very frendly non klicky group who look out for each other and always mean well, unless you get on the subject of seats.(I would strongly avoid this area of current interest more so with anyone with a Black Striped GTS)
