Hi there, a friend is about to buy a built 99, reg 2000 Chrysler Viper GTS but his insurance states he needs a Thatcham Cat 1 immobiliser. The car has the "standard" fit alarm imobiliser but was this thatcham approved? How can I find out?

Thanks,

Matt.

not sure about a 99 built model, but I do know a 2000 Chrysler (not Dodge) model is Thatcham approved

I have a GTS built in 2000 that is an official UK import. I investigated this matter for my insurance and Chrysler homologation department confirmed to me that the alarm/immobiliser is NOT Thatcham Category 1 approved. I had to have an additional system retro-fitted.
