Tell 'em they're talking rubbish...

Have a read of Classic Cars this month, page 93. There's a nice little box, a monthly feature, called Early Indicators - about classic car values. Compares a F355, 993(911) Turbo, and Viper GTS. This is what is says about the Viper:
"The impracticalities of Viper ownership will drag prices of anything but mint examples further downwards. With spares and running costs higher than you may care to imagine, only the very few will afford the mighty but eccentric Viper a home."
And the price guide graph?... Well at 2003, it puts the value at £15k, dipping below £10k in 2005.
Now Viper_Larry, I know how much you love cars that depreciate, so this is bound to please you - but even I would give you a few quid more for your tool. And as for the running costs? I thought the servicing was dirt cheap in relation to other cars? The engine's about as stressed as a giant-sloth on valium, so what's to go wrong?
It's not for me to tell them they are talking ballcocks - but it did annoy me. Go on somebody, have a pop at them...

Thanks for the info Si - what an utter load of . If anything, prices are holding steady and still reckon mine is worth very similar money to what I paid for it a year ago.
As for servicing, just had a 52k service (although only on 22k) for a grand total of £247 inc. 8 litres of Mobil 1, MoT & underside steam clean at a Chrylser dealer. Also, just had my insurance renewal today @ £730 fully comp.
My Mondeo cost more to service and almost as much to insure!!!
Smiles per pound you just cannot beat a Viper...
Anyone else agree with me?

£10,000 for my Viper in 2005?Even if were in New Zealand..........er ...I don,t think so,but this the usual trash knocked out very quickly and without any kind of research. All i can say is that there are going to be a lot of very disapointed Viper hopefulls in a few years, but i guess that the person who wrote it wants one/can,t or won,t ever afford one and in a vain bid to own one is trying to make the market crash............err.........It won,t work bud.....all the Viper owners I know would rather be buried in there car when they snuff it than "give it away" for £10k....Plus...look on the bright side ,this will make importers think.."hey its not worth importing from the USA as the prices are so high that i won,t make any money"That means less Viper in the U.K and so higher prices!!!..........Your plan has failed my naff mag scribe...anyway who reads or takes any notice of a mag that spends most of its time praising the Austin Maxi and Allegro (My first car..puke)and who to corner the classic car market with rare AlfaSuds....yes ...they love to write about such Lovely cars that everybody(NOT) aspires to.So i don,t think i,m going to loose to much sleep tonight over this artickle, but i might dream of going up to a Maxi owner and saying...."wow she,s a beauty Mr,Ive what,ll she do? read all about these icons of engineering in Classic Car Mag so it must be true!
Perhaps they get the pricing from the number they sell in there mag....ie. none therefore no interest...
No interest they should have been on our stand at the NEC we were on the go all day....did not see much action on the Austin (Maxi) stand.
Got to say that they are poorly informed and did not even bother to ask the experts us so as far as I am concerned
Regards to sicarrie
We all now that they are infested with s
