Well?

I hope there is at least a 10 second VIPER @ TOTB3, which can handle as well, in all weather conditions. That way, the Z can/will beat the majority of Skylines and Supras, and a few other cars < ND Evos that are in this bracket, and will get some fame (and beat one or two famous cars like the Rocket Ronnie R33 GT-R which wil prove Vipers and American cars like the Viper are superior). I really hope there could be a Venom 1000TT that runs 8s easily, to beat the 8 second GT-Rs. The reason I say this is because this is an event with cars from all different backgrounds, and it is boring simply seeing the same scenario played out.

-Skylines win drag
-If they don't, it is another Jap car that wins the drag
-Evo or GT-R wins handling circuit (harder to judge winner here than on the ¼ mile, but the Viper is a serious competitor here, as proven by a certain someone!)

This is why I never went to this event – it is obvious who the winner will be just by looking on paper (well for the drag strip anyway), handling it is harder to judge, but past trends prove a lot. It makes the event predictable, and not competitive between the most varied cars, and thus a waste of money (only value is seeing fast cars, but not competition). It is more an event of competition between the GT-Rs. But at least this time we will see one or two big power Supras.

I do like Skylines, they are technoligical masterpieces, and deserve to win because of the owner's dedication etc and they are awesome cars, but like I said, there is an event with the intention of competition, but there is no competition. Even the twin engined Golfs and wacky cars like that are beating the Z’s and Vipers.

I don't own a Z, or any car, but I love Vipers, Zs, Skyline GT-Rs, and Supras. But the Viper and Z are my fave cars).

So will there be any big power Vipers? I wanna see GT-Rs go down! And I wanna see what the Jap car mags write in their coverage of TOTB3. Vipers are so great for tuning, handling, straight line speed etc. Ah well, I’ll still be supporting the American cars a lot even if they don’t prove to be the most competitive, such is my love for Vipers and Vettes. Well my cunning plan when I am older is to build a drag Corvette or Viper for TOTB, Trax etc! In reality, there would be a lot of normality (easy to say but hard to do, costings).

Thanks

I'm 17 and I am taking my test (well will do soon). I'm doing A levels. Just some background information on me.

P.S. some of you, or all, view the Corvette thread say you may have seen me post this (Venom500 replied to the thread), so please don't angry for seeing the same post!! Except I pasted the thread into MS Word and changed the Corvette/Z wording to Viper! ROLFMAO.

It will be very hard to come across a 8 second road legal viper even in the USA, the majority of the big names in tuned USA vipers are hitting mid 9's to 10's, at the moment there's nothing in the UK near that figure that I'm aware of.

Road legal tyres are needed for all TOTB cars, unlike the big HP skylines the vipers only have 2 wheels to put the power through so its a very fine line with great traction/to much wheel spin, not that I'm a expert I pretty sure you'd need slicks to hit 8 sec's in a viper

Do your self a favour and get to the TOTB3,,i love yank cars but to be a juice head just being there amongst all that machinery was special,American ,Japanese,British,it was something else!!

Elaborate on your plans, ZR1.

I'll be there once there are some Vettes and/or Vipers that can give the Skyline GT-Rs and Supras a run for their money on the 1/4 mile strip. Traction is the reality, and a major problem, with RWD cars, but that can be solved (as Yanks have, some with drag radials, some without).

Z064life, we really need to give you a ride.

The other thing about the Viper is, no electronics!!!

The nice man in the showroom hands you the keys and a little voice inside you says you are on your own now.

Plus some of these Jap cars have spent more than 70 K on the engine............imagine a Viper with 70K just spent on the engine.....

I understand you frustration but you could drive a stock Viper hard all day.....................a tuned japanese wonder..........I don't think so amd park a Viper in a car park and there is a crowd around it when you come back.......Viper

moses mate,

I thought your visit was for only one post (but then I suppose you/me/we have people waiting for you/me/us/we at the MLR)!

Yes, there were loads of people around the Jap cars at TOTB2. Why? Because the Jap cars were the most awesomely modified metal at the event, and there was no Viper or Corvette at the show that could compete with it (but there are some seriously quick ones in the USA). Bring an LPE 427TT Vette or Hennessey Venom 1000TT Viper down to TOTB3 and we will see who will be looking at which cars, because that Yank car will be getting as much attention from those people/spectators and even competing car owners who are not living in an obdurate world which doesn't include American cars, as they are stereotyped by these sorts of people (or in some cases not liked on a subjective basis, which is fair).

Paul is simply stating that these cars have 70k+ invested in mods for them, and that is a fair comment, nothing wrong with that, I don't see any knocking or insult to those cars, in fact, if anything, beneath the surface/between the lines, Paul is praising these cars, and we would all be correct in doing so, because these cars do what they are design for (some Jap cars once modded for the event being designed for drag, or handling) in an excellent fashion. Paul simply said that these cars have £70k or more invested in them, and the results are great, but there was no Viper (or Vette) with similar money invested into it, but if there was, then imagine that! That is what Paul meant (or said in my case because I follow his argument/comment).

i understand that bros

i like alot of cars but paul had the japcrap attitude thats what i felt

evos and skylines , supras have more crowds in the world , people with sense know that

and its true alot of these japanese cars do have alot of money spent on it, but its coz they want 9 or 10 sec quarter miles their just not happy

remember the evo is only a 2 litre crank and the skyline a 2.6 to eek more power out u do need to mod it of course

i think its worth it, u can spend 140k on a gt2 u can only tune it a lil but with these cars if u had to spend 140k including the car wow u are laughing and in rocket heaven

vipers are awesome cars but i wont offend anyones pride and joy, especially when u spend alot of time and money, blood and sweat tuning it

cheers

Your last comment - I couldn't agree more (I'm going to stop doing this, I did this with the M3 thread on the MLR. I need to realise that there is something about every car that appeals to someone).

GT2s can be tuned - heard of Gemballa? Their awesome all round cars in stock trim anyway.

Now where is that Video of the slightly modded Viper creaming the Diablo in the 1/4.

And to moses, not a pop at you old son just they are not my cup of tea and really I have never seen an EVO type car looked at in a car park by men, women, children and even dogs!!!

My 10 cents worth.

Plus this is the Viper forum and its unfair to expect me to praise jap cars that will be gone in the next few years.

People still look and wonder when they see an AC Cobra, we are the modern AC and people will admire us for years.

moses, you can't complain of Paul's attitude towards Jap cars, whether right or wrong, which is not the point here, because I see a lot of people on the MLR knocking American cars just because of their stereotypes (from the past), all of which I can, and have, proven wrong.

Actually, I quite like Jap cars and would like an Evo VIII as my everyday car to compliment the Viper.

I think you'll find that they attract a lot of attention as they are an affordable everyday car. You can pick up an old Jap TurboNutterBarge for only a few thousand pounds which is what many of the spectators own - then they like to look at what 'could' be done with their car.

The Viper on the other hand is considered by most, quite rightly, as a 'Supercar' and as such, out of their league. Most people can only dream of these cars - we the fortunate own them

Perhaps some of them don't realise that for half the £70k they spend on an engine, they could own a Viper

Yep, attracts lots of attention from the

They are truley great cars in the forests and on the rally/rallycross circuit even on the road, just not memorable, I wonder in 20 years time will people love to remember drivers in the forests as much as I remember Roger Clark and Makinen driving a MK1 Escort RS1800.............yes I think so.

Most women of all ages remark on the Viper even people with no car interest ask about it.

Not popping off at Japanese drivers at all but around here there are not the best in the world rather they treat the roads as a private race track, then complain when they get nicked, and don't tell me it aint so because we nearly screwed the NEC dream rides because some got stopped by the same copper for 97 in a 50 and 77 in a 30....because it was for charity the bib let him off.

Plus in closing it was the Italians who made and coined the word EVO with the Delta.

Now back to the Viper Forum anyone??????

Like Japs also(Not the ones that fought in WW2)Looking to trade the very slowwwwwwwwww P.T in for a fire spitting Skyline, now i did hear of a 9 sec Skyline up for £20k.....um....now that gives me an idea?!.I think the car world would be a very dull place without some of the fantastic engineering marvels Japs have produced. The "Pink Panther" that lives up the road from me with a 900bhp Skyline is fantastic even if it does blow up from time to time...(just for the record its a Mazda RX7 in PINK!,with a 900bhp wankel engine and a top speed of around 220 mph...cool!)
