Head Gasket and Rocker Gasket Kits
Discussion
It also looks like I need to replace my Head and Rocker Gaskets. Clive Sutton say it will be £1250+VAT (including port seals).
I know the OEM gasket kits are expensive, but does this sound right to you guys?
I believe the gaskets are original, and the fibre ones. I know in the US Chrysler had these changed under a warrenty....but in the UK?
Any suggestions?

1250 sounds far to much, there's a guy in the USA who supplys the gasket and fits its for $600, but were not in the US. I read a post that recommended fitting the gen2 gasket to avoid the problem again, speak to Chuck at Tators Dodge tatorsdodge@msn.com for advice, he can supply the gaskets as well if you can find someone to fit them.
You might want a word with V1PER as he belives his has perished to.

Take your Viper to a garage who knows what they are talking about. Clive Sutton cannot even spell the word "Viper".
I have a complete set of gaskets that I can let you have, you can then replace them from JonB, if they are needed at all.
As an after thought, on what basis are the "Viper Experts" claiming that you need this work carried out?
Another so called "expert dealer" said that I needed a complete new engine, all the compressions were low according to them. In the end, all that was wrong was a leaking inlet manifold. This work was carried out by someone who knew what they were doing and took about 2 hours including diagnosing the fault.
Give me a call on 07947 120369 and we can talk things through.
Nad, you may wish add your experiences to this.
Peter.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the offer! I will give you a call over the weekend, if thats cool? Just got the Viper back, from Clive Sutton with no work done on it. I have no experience of their capabilities, only recommendations from guys on this forum.
The "evidence" of gasket leaks, is minor residue around the engine block. But I am unsure if this is engine cleaning fluid/external water marks.
I figured I would keep a close eye on coolant over the next few weeks, and drive it regularly and see the outcome. Over the past 12 months, it has only had 1,000 miles put on it. The Exige has been the toy of choice for a while.

Most leaks are an external seapage on the front of the block/head.
Almost certainly if you have a gen 1 car its the head gasket.
I recomended Peter to try Chamberlain who run the race Vipers both in Europe and at Le mans. I went up for a nose and they are a much smaller outfit than before but still have the Viper raced by the girls (should have put Nad in it she would have creamed Vicky Butler-Henderson). Their mechanics are certainly race proven but they did hire them in as needed and at present I only saw one guy working.
The MG Le Mans transporter was out side so they can 'do the business'.
I have done a lote of work on my car and can honestly say its very easy to work on, its just a basic push rod engine and the heads should just pop off.
I also recommended a friend who builds race Caterhams to Peter good guy does good preparation and will do engines, he also has a good 'gas flow' guy who we are investigating.
