Having seen those Suspension arms with cracks all over the place, I thought I would have a carefull look at mine to be on the safe side. wink
Before

Then after a bit of buffing smile

!!!!!!!!! Have found this though!!!!!

The cracks do not go all the way through the disc, but I will definitely be keeping an eye on this wink

Yea, not very happy about them I must admit. If I was to do any track days they would be replaced asap, however with the mileage im going to do this year I think I can get away with them for a bit frown

Think VERY carefully here.... From what I have read about this, the fractures WILL only get worse, and any visible cracks can also assist in eating away, quite dramatically, at your pads.

I would get those replaced sooner rather than later.

I bought a set of EBC slotted and dimpled discs from Joel recently and am really pleased with them.

Discs aren't that much. But then you really ought to replace the pads as well.

yea they have seen lots of heat from more than a few laps around a track somewhere, look at the calipers and the Viper lettering that should be white, extreme heat kills the colour and sends them yellow'y

so take them off while your there for a look, or i bet there's a few like new front stock calipers floating around with all these big brake kits been fitted

The brake heat kills the dust boots on the caliper pistons, if so make sure you clean the pistons off before pushing back in, or you could risk damaging the seal.

I wouldn't run drilled for that reason they crack, and slotted is all you need to clear the gas build up from under the pad anyway. The hairline cracks, do keep an eye on, but if the discs are wearing thin watch very closely. I've just repeatedly stopped mine from around 200mph on OE '97 calipers and race pads and they didn't crack. Its only as the discs wear that I've found they will crack under the heat. I run Roe 2-piece slotted discs, or I've slotted OE discs with a bull-nose cutter. Hope this is of help.

Re the A-arms, they will break if stressed or get a bash (ie wheel knocked) I know some shipping companies straped through the suspension arms, that's asking for big trouble later down the line.

And whilst you're in there it'd be worth replacing the lines with stainless braided lines too

JonB at Partsrack does rotors cheap... I discussed these with him before buying mine, but by the time you have paid for shipping, (and bear in mind that they are HEAVY so that isn't going to be cheap), then add the cost of import duty and tax, you are better off getting them from the UK. EBC are a UK company so the cost usually includes postage, which, (if the stock is available), is usually delivered within 48hours of ordering.

Regarding the cheap ebay pads & rotors, I am very much in the frame of mind that you get what you pay for with most things, and I have to question how someone can be banging out rotors at that price. At the end of the day, look at this from a sensible perspective... Your life is in the hands of those rotors, not to mention your most regular passenger is your son. Thoughts along those lines coupled with the potential loss of the car if those rotors gave way made me go with a known and trusted company. And as I said above by the time you take into account the cost of shipping and taxes the price really isn't that far off.

Personally speaking I would not be happy driving the car at all, if my rotors were in the current state that you have, I'd get them done as soon as possible.
