I notice that Parts rack are selling mitchelin tyres at the old prices, there due to go up in price at the end of the month! Has anybody ever ordered tyres from John B and had them sent to the UK? Just wondered how much shipping, customs clearence ect costs and is it worth it? Quite frankly there a rip off over here! frown

JonB is the only one who can tell you how much he'll charge for shipping. Customs will charge 10% Import Duty and 17% VAT on that kind of value, (as per when you imported your car...)

I thought you'd decided against buying the Michelins because they were no good at minus 15 degrees and weren't really designed for driving in the snow?

Er No, I was just trying to bring it to peoples attention that there desinged as a 'Summer Tyre' I doubt if many people knew that! I didnt! and considering they put Pilot Sports on other cars, drivers should be aware!

i missed that one but i don't think there are any tires that will fit the rims for the viper that aren't marked as summer tires, and anyway with 335-345 width they are never going to work that well in snow, believe me i tried it.

As for shipping we paid £80 for one corvette tire to be air freighted over when we needed it urgently (ie the viper didn't work too well in the snow and the vette failed its MOT) and we paid a fairly high price for the pair as it was.

Also check you have a dealer that can fit them, some these days only fit tyres they supply.

I think with shipping VAT etc you are likeley to pay 80-95 p to the dollar.
