Hi all . I'm new to the place, so don't hurt me too much .

1996 must have been the first time that I saw a GTS, and ever since I have had my heart set on owning one.
Currently, I'm at the grand age of seventeen (), have barely passed my driving test and can't yet afford the insurance let alone the cost of a whole car!

What I need is a little help in my quest for my dream car ...

It has recently become apparent that I will have to wait at least another five years (after finishing with college and then university) before I will be able to even think about investing in a Viper. With the obvious lack of availability in the UK, especially with Dodge having discontinued the manufacture of these beautiful machines, and from what I want, it's going to be very hard to get ahold of one.

I have decided that when I do get it, I preferably want a '97-'02 model, RHD and a smooth black finish with the obligatory white stripes (though I wouldn't mind the steel finish like on Neil's beauty ).
Knowing that there are very few of these about, I guess my best option would be to have one imported from the States and then get it SVA modified, but if possible I don't want to have to go to all that extra expense.
This is where I need some help from you guys and gals ... any ideas on how to overcome this would be much appreciated. And after five more years, prices are bound to go up due to availability ... any ideas on how much I'd be looking at by that time (that's on a standard GTS) ?

I think that that is all for now. Any help and/or tips would be much appreciated . I hope to be speaking to you all soon .

Tom.

Oh, and it would be nice to know who that GTS I saw just under 8 years ago belongs/belonged to. I spotted it parked up in Beeston, Nottingham. 'Twas in the ever-popular blue and white stripe finish.

Dodge still makes these cars. It is their halo car/flagship. I am in the same position as you (I'm 17, need to take my test soon, in year 13, going uni next year, etc).

No, they stopped production the GTS in 2002, which is a crying shame. But that just means than when I own one, it'll be more exclusive .

Good taste young man but RED is always the fastest colour so perhaps you should change your mind if you don't then well you will just be a tad slower.

RHD well only one company in the world makes a R/H drive kit so if you are considering it then thats were the import will have to come from, plus expect to pay nearly the same for the conversion as the car cost!!!!

And if you join us in Europe once a year then the L/H becomes a asset.

As the man said at the launch....."This is Viper if this doesn't excite you then check your pulse"

getting a right hand drive car will be very hard, they never made them out of the factory. I'd guess later years gen2 prices to be around £28 - 35K in about 5 years. In the last 4 or so years second hand prices have been rock solid barely showing depreciation if you brought right

good luck with your quest, I hope you achieve your dream

Maybe so, but the black/grey colour allows the ability of stealth!

I've been considering it, and I've come to the conslusion that I'd prefer LHD. The main reason being cost, another reason being that I'm left-handed ... and it'd compliment that nicely .

Stealth is not a word I would use when driving a Viper! More like ***CENTRE OF ATTENTION***

When I said that Dodge makes these cars, I mean't Vipers in general.

I'm pretty much decided on these colours now ... I think it was the grey stripes that did it for me .

Now all I have to do is wait until I can afford one ... *stares at watch intently* ...

Same thing . As long as it isn't red or yellow, it's fine .

There is nothing wrong with Race Yellow. It`s a personal choice and my favourite.

Admittedly, your Viper does like nice, but I honestly couldn't see myself driving one so brightly coloured. .
