I realy feel gutted for that guy 
That would break my hart if I lost it like that in the Viper 
Got to say (and having just returned an R8) the guy driving the R8 must have either got on the grass big time or panic braked mid corner as he was carrying a lot of speed into the bend or just unsettled the car, the stability program should have sorted most of the problems even with the ESP switched off.
Track wise on the bends the R8 can hang with the Viper unless the Vipers on slicks and I suspect that was the problem or simple 'Nut Behind the Wheel'
Problem with the Audi 4 wheel drive is does make you feel invincable.
On the R8...well enjoyed my RS4 much more, more passion in it.
