Loving mine, shifts are a thousand times better and much more direct, spring back to centre is spot on due to the much better springs, just a bit disappointed that it isna't actually any lower than the original shifter, but I'm thinking about cutting it down and recutting the thread. (If I can work out how to do that... biggrin)

Dave.... you need someone to sit in the car and hold the tool while you spin the car to cut the threads.......

Presumably it'll make it easier if I take the roof off first... biggrin

On a serious note though, how easy/hard is it to re-cut the thread on it? Would I be able to do it in situ, or would I need to remove it again?

Why don't you use the shifter knob that came with the kit. It's the perfect height, well for me anyway.

The hursts that Chuck supplied didn't come with a Knob Phil, I bought an MGW, but in hindsight I wish I'd gone for the other MGW option, as the one I have makes it that bit higher again...
My knob is too big...

Been looking into the whole, cutting down the shifter and re-threading it idea...

If I buy one of these Tap & Die sets, would I be able to cut a new thread on the bar with the shifter in situ in the car? Anyone done tap & die stuff before? Any advice?

the shaft is more than likely hardened and wont like being threaded

But is it do-able? Or not even worth trying?

If it's not do-able then I'll try and get a smaller knob, Maybe if my knob wasn't so big I wouldn't have this problem...
