GTS 1996=7 Battery
Discussion
In two years, I now have the third battery. I am not very happy with the original battery. A friendly hint for you: buy the much more cheaper, stronger and more durable VW Golf 3 TDI battery. As far as I know, this one also has side poles and more Ampere. You will not beat down a German-car battery that fast.
Good luck

im still running the original mopar battery as it left the factory, and the car is 8 years old, thats pretty goood going !
though ive always use a trickle charger perhaps that is where your going wrong Dennis? you always need a trickle charger on these cars, after 3 weeks they wont start in you have left the doors locked/alarm on and once the battery dead it zaps life out of it
most here use the Optimate

having said that i chatted to Baz about swapping for a new mopar battery even though i dont have any problems, just as a preventive for the german trip

The Mopar battery's I don't rate too good, liked AC Delco, even stamped with 7 year garentee, then have one go down after 13 months and always plugged to Optimate, no warrenty after a year from UK supplier. Optima in another snake has been doing well, but duel posts tops can put off getting these to fit nice.
