Hard Top Stand...??
Discussion
Got it in my head that this year I really should try driving the car without the hardtop in situ... But not sure at this point how best to stow it whilst it's off the car.
Does anyone have any ideas? Anywhere I could get a hard top stand? Any plans I could nab to build something, or any photos of something they use in order that I might be able to knock something up?
Just really not sure where to put it whilst it's not on the car, and the idea of leaving it propped up on a couple of saw horses on the other side of the garage is not seeming like the best idea...
edited to add: I have seen one of these for sale in the states, but assuming it would be a bit pricey to ship:

I was reading something about this on the VCA forum, One guy came up with a realy simple idea. He purchased some Ladder J hooks from a local DIY store and mounted 2 of them the correct way up, evenly spaced, Low down on the garage wall. (When you take off the roof you rest it on these 2 J hooks) Then he mounted 2 more J hooks the other way round which could swing up to hold the top of the roof. No need for expencive stands and your roof is held securley in the J hooks away from the wall.
Just another thought, on the lower J hooks you could pad those out with heating pipe insulation sleveing. Another way to hold the top of the roof without 'swinging' J hooks would be to attach 2 pices of 22mm pipe about 8" long verticaly to the garage wall and simply drop the 2 J hooks upside down into the fixed pices of pipe!
Try this link below, there were other threds on the subject but I cant find them.

ive seen them hanging above the car, on a pulley system which can raised/lowered which frees more garage space, better it would a cheaper option
A friend of mine bought one such system last year for his Z4 hard top. Used is a handful of times then sold the Z4. It's now sitting in his garage with nothing to do. Not sure if it could be adapted for the Viper, but you never know. PM me if interested...Gassing Station | Vipers | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
