At my MOT last year there was an advisory note that the Discs are getting low, I am therefore looking to change my discs at some point in the not too distant future, especially considering some of the events I'm planning on going to this year.

I have the feelers out for costings, but so far having looked into it briefly, I have found EBC Slotted & Dimpled, currently cheapest quote is just under £400 for all four corners (Including postage), but just wondered if anyone has any other ideas? Or even better, an in with EBC that can get any better prices?

I have also seen drilled and slotted on ebay at some very attractive looking prices, but have heard horror stories about drilled discs cracking... Any input would be appreciated...

Thanks Neil... I have just put a call in to Joel for a price.

I was looking at the EBC's mainly due to the slots and dimples as I am assuming they will improve stopping power? If the effect is likely only to be negligable I am happy to go stock, do you guys think the EBC's would be better? Baz told me that they will cool better/faster, but is the stopping power likely to be noticeably improved?

Just rung a Chrysler Dealer and been told that the GenI discs are £122 each (Front), so EBC are definitely looking to be the way to go at closer to £100 each... The dealer Baz just posted works out at £430 all four...

I will continue my search...

Have had EBC on both Gen II Vipers but could never find anyone in the Uk that stocked them or was allowed to sell them, pads no problem but the discs I had to get from Great Brakes in Texas.

They improve the breaking and the looks.

If anyone knows a UK stockist who has them in stock please post their name. All EBC delares promise they can get them but 5 or so let me down.

Joel can get them for me pretty much next day... At pretty much the same price I've been quoted elsewhere, despite being slightly more expensive I'll go with him because of who he is and his connections with us... It's only a few quid difference to give my business to another Viper owner, and he says they'll get delivered direct from EBC.

I have the EBC slotted and dimpled on the camaro, bloody noisy things i can tell you that much, as for stopping power it was hard to tell as the old disks were warped, corroded and generally ******, however in that state there were still better than the viper for slowing down. The EBC's may be a bit better but not night and day in that application. I only went for them as the chevy stock ones seemed to be made of rust impregnated butter.

Go on, you know you want to do a big brake upgrade.

I'll do that if you give me those GenIII wheels for next to nothing... wink
I'm not sure how Dave got on with the GenI 17" Big Brake upgrade... Still need new discs though whatever I decide to do...

You're changing the pads as well right ? I think you're going to need new pads and braided hoses too to make a good noticeable difference. I got the EBC black dimpled and grooved, together with stainless steel braided hoses. Jon at Partsrack recommended the Brakeman3 pads. Not had chance to test mine out yet - (just fitted and still snow on the ground here ) - but guys with the same mods report a marked improvement over stock.

Yes, already got a brand new set of pads waiting to be fitted, it's good to hear that a marked improvement is possible.

Thanks very much for the offer Carl, but having had a thought about it, and a few discussions, I'm going to stick with my original idea and go for new EBC's... Thankyou again though!

Hi Dave, after some confusion over replacement parts (I broke a rear braided hose when fitting - bolt split when tightening up) - I managed to have a full set of braided hoses left over. I was supposed to get a replacement rear hose, (which I did), but I also ordered a new set of rears. I was sent a full set. So I've got a full set left over, complete with fitting attachments, boxed and unopened, if you're interested. Yours for £100 - and I'll cover the cost of postage.

Andy.......

ETA - cost $389 plus shipping - from Partsrack.
