any ideas where to get one? without supplying all the paperwork etc, i've looked at fancyplates.com but they dont have US sizes

If your refering to replica american style pressed metal numberplates, you can get them from a company called States Plates, You can have them in any state colour you like, or they will do Reflective (white front/yellow rear) plates.
However as you are aware these are not street legal as the size and spacing of numbers etc are not to UK spec. However I had the latter style on my old Camaro and never got a tug! Also my mate had them on his 94 RT10 and never had a problem either. You can contact them on 01526 344460 or Fax 01526 343370

Number plates are now part of the MOT & must conform to certain sizing, spacing & colour reflective to pass,

I thought they always had been! You would have to be prety stupid to go to any MOT station nowdays with something other than a standard plate! frown
