Well its going to happen.

It’s official! With the announcement of the next Viper Owners Invitational to be held in Detroit, Aug. 27–30, 2008, that brings the number of these major Viper blowouts to a perfect 10, or to put it another way, one max party to go with every cylinder in our favorite engine. VOI.10 (That really has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?) is coming home to the Motor City.

VOI.10 Highlights
Whether you caravan, trailer your Viper or just hop on a plane, once you get to Detroit, there is a whirlwind of activities scheduled for the event. Attendees and their guests will stay at Detroit’s two newest luxury establishments—the MGM Grand Casino and Hotel and the Motor City Casino and Hotel. Completed within the last year, both of these hotels offer first-class accommodations and easy access to Detroit’s casinos as well as other citywide attractions.

One of the most anticipated activities of VOI.10 will be the tour of the Viper owner’s Promised Land—the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant where Vipers have been built since 1996. After arriving on Wednesday, VOI.10 attendees will get guided tours of the facility and see up close how each Viper is carefully assembled by some of the most skilled craftspeople in the auto industry. Ask anyone who has already taken this tour—it’s an experience you’ll never forget. Thursday and Friday will also include driving events that will allow Viper owners to show off their skills behind the wheel.

In addition, the timing of this event includes the Detroit Grand Prix, scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 29 to Sept. 1. Those who come to VOI.10 will be able to attend the event and watch competitors from all over the world take on the challenging Belle Isle race course. Viper owners who attended the Detroit Grand Prix in 2007 said it was one of the best times they’ve ever had.

Back at the hotels, both Dodge and the VCA have planned spectacular banquets with an incredible array of food and beverage along with some top-notch entertainment. These social events are a great way for you to renew friendships and relive the glory of the day’s events.

Plans are also well underway for an exciting Viperabilia exhibit and those who have attended in the past know that this is always one of the most popular attractions at a Viper Owners Invitational. Suppliers and vendors will be on hand with many unique and fascinating items that a discriminating Viper owner will just have to have.

Make Plans Now to Attend
As we said, all roads lead to Detroit. We will be sending more information by the beginning of March on how to register, so stay tuned. It’s time for your Viper to come home and we hope to see you and all of your Viper friends in Detroit this August.

I am thinking about it as my car is out in the States at the moment. Although I am just checking up to see how long a car can stay out of the UK.

In principle... Yes! Definitely 'Planning' on going...
However, (unfortunately), in Practice, if I am honest... I think I might not have the casting vote on whether I am allowed to go... (I think it will all come down to cost)

speak to Joel Jan, he will know the rules about a car in the US

in previous years its been around $750 each for the entry fee, which includes the lunch and evening meal bankquets, track stuff, freebies etc

they normally pick a decent and expensive hotel, to cater for 1000 odd people
allow about £150 per night where everything happens, though when i went with the others to VOI8 we stopped in a lovely brand new hotel, like a very fancy premier travel inn for £50 just around the corner which was ideal

then flights, say about £300 espicially in August

you dont have to be a VCA member to go, but being a member allows you to book early, those that arent have to wait and see if there's any places left

Thanks Neil - I emailed Joel yesterday cos I know he had alot of work done on Skunk out in the States. Waiting to hear back from him. Have also emailed the shipping company to see how long you can keep a car out of the UK without incurring any extra import taxes when bringing it back again.

It would make a great roadtrip up to Detroit from Miami where my car is now.
