HI All
its me again , still asking questions !!
just wondered what the opinion is on importing a rt/10 with a few mods, for example

HD TRANS COOLER
CUSTOM TORQUE CONVERTER(1200 RPM STALL)
373 REAR END
3" EXHAUST HEADERS
K&N SMOOTH TUBES
99 VIPER ENGINE FAN
ROE RACING AIR/FUEL MIXTURE

does this make the car less reliable , and if things went wrong are parts available over here , or for a first viper should i be looking for something standard ??
By the way i have no idea what the list means !!!!
any opinions welcomed
Many thanks
Les

Are you saying this Viper has an automatic box?

the 373 i think gives you better acceleration but you loose the top end speed

99 fan is bigger than previous years so more airflow, the car must be older than a 99

the early roe racing units (VEC1) are known to be a real pain, and the newer ones you need some knowledge of adjusting air/fuel tuning the engine using the software

if you import you need to be aware of the SVA rules and modifications needed, all things can be overcome though at this end with time and money,
if its older than 10 years old no worries

something to consider with the mods is insurance. I have found that there are several ways insurance companies treat vipers.

1) Whats a viper followed by no way.
2) Chrysler = yes Dodge = no
3) We insure modified vipers, followed by, oh not that many mods.
4) Yeah fine now are you sitting down for the price.

Now i suppose the point I'm getting at is response 3, quite a few ins Co's i have spoken to that say they accept modifications clam up and decline after 3, you may be able to group them into categories but Engine, exhaust, bodywork and wheels were to many.

I guess there is also the agreed value approach, but i have not been down that route myself.

As Viper said, plus, you don't tend to ever get your money back selling a car with mods, so if the mods are what you want, someones elses expence of installing them, can be your gain. Once you buy a Viper you will likely see a ton of 'must' buy goodies you'll want smile
