Hi Les and welcome aboard...
You will gets lots of info and help from the UK club They are a great bunch....
I have had both Gen1 and now own a 2002 Gen2 RT/10
Both are great cars but the later comes with a few more creature comforts like electric windows,AC as standard, better fitting roof and a more upto date interia....
01/02 also came with ABS.
The Gen1 is still a great car and a classic and you can get aftermaket hard tops and a few different types of windows....
Both cars are great so you will be pleased either way
There are a few Gen1 vipers for sale at the moment but i havnt seen a Gen2 for sale in the UK for a long time now...
This book will give you all the info you need...

Welcome Les.
I'm fairly new to this also - you have lots of options to consider:
Gen 1 VS Gen 2 - black/blue/red/yellow - mileage????? - stripe/no-stripe - condition????? - it's your choice - good luck. Maurice Liang's book (above) is a must have 'first buy' and definately helped me answer these questions. And at only £20-ish, it's a good investment.
As for Cornish members, I was under the impression you could find 'local Pistonhead members' in this website - maybe one of the more experienced users can help clarify this.
Cheers,
MadMax.
Good things come to those who wait!

theres Terry a gen1 owner down in Cornwall (or is it Devon), though he doesnt post on this forum
having also owned both gen1 and 2 there's a noticeable difference when stepping from one to the other, the gen2 is far easier to drive espicially when pressing on, more comfy and a less harse ride, with some nicer more modern touches around the cockpit IMO, and you can get more than a toothbrush in the boot
a long termer gen1 owner Kevin from Scotland who has clocked up quite a few miles in his RT had a few minutes behind the wheel of my GTS in the summer, and he too was quite shocked in the difference
Paul has owned 1,2,3 generations and he said the same when he jumped from 2 to 3

Hi Les, if you don't mind me asking, how much have you got to spend? I only ask because I have had Gen 1,2 and 3 Vipers over the years and if you can afford it a Gen 3 is by far the best. They are becoming cheaper and cheaper now, so a gen 3 is only about a grand more than a decent Gen 2.
Hi Guys
thanks for all your replys , ive decided to try and find a gen2 rt/10 in yellow , i think my only option is to try and import one from the States , unless anyone knows different !!!
Vipersrus to answer your question , i have a budget of £25-30k which i think should just be enough to get one imported ?? but that could be squeezed a bit if the right car was available
thanks again guys for your replys , and i'll keep you in touch with the search !!!
Thanks
