Finished fitting my shifter yesterday and then found the battery is almost dead, the car has been stationary for a couple of months, the Alarm didn't like it much... As my daughter put it... "Mummy! Dodge Car sounds like R2D2!!??"
Ordered one of these today...
OptiMate III SP BLACK MILLIONTH EDITION Desulphating 12V Battery Optimiser / Charger WITH FREE WALL BRACKET & EXTENSION LEAD! £34.49 Plus Delivery £5.00

Where is the best place to hard wire this in? The Positive connection is pretty obvious, but what about the negative?
Thanks Guys
(Hopefully it should be with me tomorrow)

yes Dave thats the one, poke the cable towards the gap is between the hood and the door then you can connect without having to open the hood everytime, you may have to extend the cable though

RT/10Dave,
I permanent fitted ""wiring"" for an Optimate last summer so I can connect/disconnect without needing to lift the hood, images in email - sorry - haven't quite mastered images in this site yet.
I didn't want the Optimate fitted in the Viper besides, I use it on the bike.
To fit the extension/breakout cable I needed extra electrical bits from Maplins Electronics as follows:
Extra cable (10A figure 8 code XS71N), some Spiral Wrap, to give cable support and protection (I used 3mm code SJ26D however this was a little small and you could probably do better with 5mm not sure of code) Kyosho connector (code GZ98G) and Tamiya connector (code GZ99H) (one is the male and one is the female, can't remember which is which).
Total about £10 and 45-minutes.
When not in use, the cable tucks up inside the hood slot, secured in place with a piece of velcro.

Thanks Ade, just checked my email, (and have replied). The photos of what you have done are quite handy and have given me a couple of ideas for keeping it quite tidy and protected.I permanent fitted ""wiring"" for an Optimate last summer so I can connect/disconnect without needing to lift the hood, images in email - sorry - haven't quite mastered images in this site yet.
