I think appologies are in order as it has been brought to my attention that various members on this forum ie. AndyBe, neilsfishing, Viperpaul, RT/10DAVE, V1PER and Viperdave have been posting misleading information regarding the cars that my company sells. All our cars are from main dealers as we say on our website and also the Carfax reports are available for anyone to see. The car in question was offered to us on a sale or return basis, which is why we have identical pictures to the seller. We are currently having a new website built which is why the pictures were still on our old website.

I am amazed that all you Viper followers never had a brain between you to think of picking the phone up and getting your facts straight. I presume after this you will be putting your statements right.

Thanks for the publicity

Paul

I offer my apologies if the car mentioned has been incorrectly linked to Essex American Imports.
The fact is the car 'ViperGTS' bought is a total-loss on the carfax.

Sorry your upset Paul (Essex American imports), But the owner of the GTS has draged you into this situation! If anything your gripe should be with him! In hindsite mabie you should have done a carfax search to see exactly what you were selling, be honnest with yourself it was below market price, WHY? Yes the car may have been repaired properly but to buy a salvaged car, any salvaged car seriously affects price! The guys on this website are just being honnest and informing us of the cars history, If I had known that the car I went to look at had a salvage title against it, I would never have bothered going near it, but then thats just me! You know that when the new owner comes to sell this car in the future, he will have to tell the buyer that the car has a title against it, thats the law!...This affects price, its then up to the buyer if he wants to go through with the deal! Happy Christmas.

Hi fatboy18 thanks for your reply i fully understand your concern about falling prices no one sees this more than us but unfortunately as you are aware more and more of these cars are coming in and with the way the dollar is at the moment i can only see american cars becoming cheaper.there is more and more people importing these cars themselves so secondhand values will fall as well, regarding the salvaged viper that one has slipped through the net, regards paul, essex american imports.

I am so sorry if you feel that our community has let you down but the facts are quite straight forward are they not.

You are a professional we are all amateurs you promise a carfax with every model, but guess what you didn't bother to check this one, would you have taken it in as a trade ??

Its on your website so please don't talk about the size of our brains you are the trader joe soap sees only you as professional trader and trusts you often people go to see cars with rose coloured glasses which with a nice shiney Viper a quick sale.

About 10 degrees of neagative camber on the L/H front wheel with an upright r/h...is that normal??

No our group will protect any prespective Viper owner and we will 'Name and Shame' any seller or dealer who advertises any poorly repaired cars. Remember these cars are good for 190 mph and many are used abroad in France and Germany at high speed.

To be honest we could have gone to 'Trading Standards'but choose to keep it within our community.

If you are an inocent party then perhaps you have also learnt a valuble lesson but this sorry state of affairs I would call it 'Buy em Cheap and Sell em Dear'

Hi viper paul i just had a nice conversation with v1per he offered me is apologies,a nice guy a true gentleman. it seems from the feedback i've had from your community most of you are nice people BUT can i just say that we never consider our clients as stupid and can't recall seeing anyone wearing those glasses however let's set the record straight once and for all,we did not own or sell the viper gts in question,
we put it on our web site on a sale or return basis, IF we had sold the car we would have checked it out before it was delivered,i don't know what has happened to the car as my last communication with the guy was several months ago, you should however get your facts straight before you openly bad mouth people as don't forget we are the innoccent party and have done nothing wrong appologies from your community put the record straight but if you don't want to do that no problem we as a company have nothing to hide if you feel like contacting trading standards please do because has i say we have nothing to hide. we have sold many american vehicles and i can honestly say that we have never had any problems with any of our cars or customers so can we now leave this there,
best regards to everyone involved, paul, essex american imports.

Sorry but i am not withdrawing or apologizing for anything i have said, i asked Estelius two questions in relation to the blue 97 GTS on ebay and also it would seem your web site, in return Estelius e-insulted me rather than provide answers. I only responded with some research on his past and present projects, posts that were his and his alone, but seemed to shed light on his activities.

Had you not also launched with the insults and x-posting in all US related forums i may have been more sympathetic, but even so i will say here that although perhaps it was a little unwise to feature a vehicle on your company website without first checking its background, especially given how easy it should be for you to do so, that i do i believe you are also a victim and have no evidence to suggest you were involved in anyway with importing total loss vipers.

HI all- just in case some people do not know how to get a car fax in the UK I thought it was worth putting down some info. The Car fax site does not recognise UK addresses but it will accept a UK credit card using any valid US address. It does not check the credit card against the address. So find any US address and slot in it in the for along with your UK credit card and the transaction will go through.

We (51st State Autos) have been offered about 6 written off cars in the past year- including a Viper, in all cases the owners were blissfully unaware of the car's status, breaking the news is not very nice! Please carry out your own check before buying anything!! The dealers copy is not good enough, as the printout can be doctored very easily and we have seen this as well!

We are in the process of trying to sort out a deal with Car Fax to become their UK agent so the search will be available direct from our website for everyone to use. Obviously this will take some time but hopefully they will go for it.

There are also some dealers bringing write offs in deliberately. At Edmonton SVA test centre a month or so ago we were told of an SRT 10 ram that a dealer presented that had been so badly put back together that they guys testing it wanted to fail it but were not allowed to as it fell out of their remit. As the car was less than three years old, there was no MOT due and so the car would be easily registered and some poor person would end up with a death trap! they didnt tell which dealer but said they were Essex based, so could be a few.

Finally another thing that seems to be going on a lot is advertising cars with the wrong model year on them. The 10th digit of the VIN number always gives the model year. I am so fed up with seeing 05 rams advertised as 06's just because they were first registered in March 06. A guy yesterday told me he had bought an Escalade advertised as a 2005 on an 05 plate- he now wants to part ex it for an 07 escalade that we have and lo and behold it is a 2003 model which means he has now lost £10k in 3 months unless he advertises privately and carries on the deception. Its a never ending cycle sadly!

If anyone needs any help getting a Car Fax let me know at sales@51stateautos.com , even if you are buying elsewhere we are happy to get the report for you!!!

Thanks
Charles

Once again Charles you have been a 'Star' and you are a credit to the industry. Your comments are helpful and your information is sound and we thank you. I was never our intention to 'Tar and Feather' any one or in fact any industry, but you are so right when you tell people the real story behind there car and whats happened to their hard earned cash.

I am sure all of us look forward to you having a Carfax agency and I look forward to meeting you one day.

The above doesnt quite make sense,

1. If all your cars are from main dealers, why is this one on your website? is it from a main dealer?
2. If all your cars have clear carfaxes, do you have one for this car? because youve just said its on your website (old).

maybe you could just clarify what has happend so that there is no doubt.

I also think than rather than expecting the "viper followers" to use their brains and pick up the phone to check the details, its your website, your the dealer, your responsibility! so you should of used your brain and picked up the phone to check this car out yourself before offering it to the public on YOUR website.

I am not sure any apology is in order based on the above.

The thread starter needs to;
stop avoiding the blame, forget the smoke screens and accept that improvement is needed and implement improvement so customers are protected.
