Has anyone any advice on removing the cats (high flow ones) from a '96 RT-10 (with engine mods)? E.g., whether it's worth doing, any tricks in the practicalities of the job itself, things to watch out for in terms of subsequent O2 sensor/ fuel management issues? Cheers.

Removed them on my 97. No rear O2 sensor on the 97 so no check engine light, i would assume a 96 would be the same. Easy to check if you have them or not though, if you do then you will need sims or a different ECU, if not then knock yourself out.

As for is it worth it, personal choice. I don't think the cat less vs high flows makes a noticeable difference in HP. For me cat less was fun for a while but i got concerned for my hearing and tired of the stink of unburned hydrocarbons.

Bottom line though depending on what exhaust component diameters you have already it may just be a case of replacing the cat with a bit of straight tube which is only a few ££. if you don't like it then put the high flows back.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll go for it and see what it's like living the car 'cat-less'. As you say, I can always put them back on again. It should be good for the car too, reducing some heat in the exhaust system.
