Love your average car assembler, their attention to detail is amazing, they provide a camera to take pics of your most special of all Vipers one of only 100.

Except.......the numpty's as so busy taking photo's that no one bothers to screw down the fuel pump properly, they cross thread it without even sealing the 'O' ring.

So at last Justin's horrible stench of fuel, check engine light and possible explosion has been cured.

I did't find it Neil did one of the few 'Viper Techs' trained in the UK.

Just going to put a new rubber ring on the unit to be safe and a re-instal and he will be as good as new.

Great news Paul. No drastic bulkhead distruction to remove the fuel tank after all - must be good news.

Glad you got your car sorted Paul, and lucky in several ways. If it had been cross threaded at the factory, it would have never sealed the rubber and been leaking bad from day one! Justin Bell would have noticed, when he owned / drove it. Of course if the OE rivets were still there in the access panel then it had to be CAAP, if not then the dealer Steve used (more likely culprits; remember spotting they originally managed to screw up the 998 on it). The threads on the tank weren't damaged then by the cross threading...? Very lucky as there are few threads, and the screw cap ring is of harder material. I've been to CAAP 3 times now, and the people there put a lot of pride into building our snakes (they are not a bunch of 'happy snappers'!!)

HI had no sorry it was CAP who were crap, the rivets were the original plastic ones and every person I spoke to said it always stunk of fuel, when Justin owned it it stank of fuel to I know cause I had a nice chat with him about it, he called it the car he should never have sold. But for the time he owned it he never drove it really, Chrsler Uk bought the car on his behalf as he ordered while drunk at the FIA celebration dinner in Detroit he told me when it was announced he stood up and proudly said i'll take #52, when his fax machine went nearly a year later with a bill for #52 he couldn't afford to pay for it having a youg wife and family and just lost a major drive as he thought he would be driving for Mercedes next season but they withdrew after the flying GT car episode.

A deal was struck that Chrysler UK would buy the car on his behalf register it in his name use it for promotional purposes as they wish, with Justin's time this would pay off the purchase.

As history shows, he left the UK for the US to drive for GM and sold the car.

The above is from a wonderful letter and conversation I had with Justin, there now the folk law about a gift from Dodge is broken.

Very nice guy really down to earth......did I ever tell you I only have two personal hero's...Steve McQueen and Derek Bell.......now I can add one more...Justin Bell either can drive Justin anytime they want.

Hi Paul, Great that Justin is fixed. Thought I was not going to see him again. I agree with you that Justin Bell is a great guy. I have spoken to him a few times, if you ever speak to him again - please could you give him a message "that Anjie is STILL Viper Mad". Thanks from me. Anjie
