Hi All, can anyone help me out with the above. There will be a good drink in it for whoever can. I will also leave a huge deposit whilst I have the wheels. My Viper has brand new chrome 20" wheels and they wont pass the SVA test. I will only need the wheels for a day or 2 at the very most. Thanks Chris 01375 382860 or Mobile 07766 057935

Surely if you put them on after you've passed the SVA, then your car is unroadworthy, therefore no insurance...........

Got to agree with that...

Excuse my lack of knowledge here, but why would the wheels fail an SVA? What's the problem with them?

They stickout slightly from the arches. Also when the steering is turned full lock they rub on the inner arch.

eek That sounds safe! Not surprised they won't pass them! I somehow doubt they would pass an MOT either... Best bet is get some sensible, legal, wheels and tyres... It'll probably save you on tyre replacement in the long run as well...

I'd stop paying your insurance premiums as well. No point in paying to have no insurance.

A god 80% of import cars that pass the SVA would'nt re-pass it a week or so later, plenty of companies do this on a regular basis for you. Ie get the car through the SVA & revert it back for you once done.

The original tyres even fail an sva test on the grounds that they are rated at 186 mph and the car is capable of 190+ but if you can prove they are the original fitment then they accept them. Mad when we have a 70mph speed limit!

there's certain things which the SVA inspectors check but can be reverted back to original after the test and still remain road legal

e.g. SVA requires MP/H speedo but for MOT a KM/H only speedo is acceptable

agreed on the wheels though, rubbing tyres on arches isn't a good thing - POP!

if they aren't E marked they will fail even though they pass an MOT - go figure...

shout

DO NOT DO THIS.

You won't be insured if the car doesn't qualify for an SVA ticket. If you have an accident the insurers will crawl all over the car and make sure it's compliant. What are you going to do, get out of the car and change the wheels while the police arrive?

If your car gets totalled by an uninsured driver you will have to buy yourself a new one. And if god forbid you cause an accident and hurt someone you will get sued, and they will take your house to pay for the damages.

NOT WORTH IT.
