Had my MOT yesterday morning, failed on two things...

I have a broken spring on my front drivers side...

And the same problem Kev had... Even though the car has been in the country for over ten years... The headlights are pointing in the wrong direction!!?? Lord knows how it passed an MOT before!?

Spoke to Chuck last night about the springs, bad news I'm afraid, the part is no longer available... So, the question is, Does anyone have a pair of front springs (or shocks and springs) for a Gen1 they might wish to part with?

My other options at the moment are a second hand shock and spring from Paul Scharf, (which is currently looking like my best bet) or, I have spoken with Snakeoyl products who believe they may have a couple of springs in their archive, but are at this point uncertain... (so waiting to hear from them).

on ebay there's a guy selling RT doors, though looks like he's parting the whole car out, it maybe your lucky day

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dodge-Viper-RT10-Door-shell_...

you must of had people flash you at night with the headlights been wrong, that happened to me for a while before they were spun around to the correct position

there's a guy in Glasgow, Kevin who upgraded to Leda all round, he may still have his stock stuff

Thanks Neil,

I have just spoken with the guy, and yes he has the springs/shocks available. I am waiting for him to let me know when he's taken them off, it's definately going to save me some time rather than waiting to get them in from the States... Thanks again for the heads up Neil!

Alignment on the headlights is esy to fix. That's been covered in another thread (if you didn't know how to change them).
And the springs are easy to change. Why not go for an upgrade and change them all round ?

I've just printed off the explanation of how to do the headlights so will get that done over the weekend, would be extremely tempted to upgrade the suspension all round, but the timing is not right for me at the moment, (Second child due in the next six weeks so I'm trying to be careful with funds for a while), going for a replacement option is my best bet for the time being.

Don't know if the Gen 1 uses the same make of springs as the Gen 2 but if they do then these guys are the UK suppliers are had the right Gen 2 springs in stock recently when a pair were needed.

As per this topic... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I bought a pair of used, but excellent condition, shocks/springs from a guy breaking a Low Mileage RT/10 at the weekend... Started the work last night... Took a couple of hours to release the sway bar, but it's finally off, and tomorrow night comes the job of removing the old shocks. Just hoping the bolts release relatively easily. Getting there.

Hi Baz,

Headlights are proving slightly perplexing at the moment... I have removed the plastic screws for the inspection panels, (Eleven out of twelve Broke! So I had to drill them out, which took a while. Replacements are winging their way to me...) I have removed the inspection panels, and taken the backs off the lights and am now at the stage where I'm looking at the back of the lights...

My only question is should the tab be in the L or R position? I'm nowhere near the car at the moment, but if memory serves me correctly when I was looking at the lights I was thinking... 'Surely if I turn it that way it will be turning it toward the oncoming traffic'... It was last thing last night and I was getting tired, I probably just need to switch the lights on and see what happens when I turn it... For instance, at the moment the right hand light is set in the upper position (Can't remember which letter it is), which made me think that if I turn it clockwise to the lower position it will turn it to the right.

On the subject of headlights, I'm tempted to switch the bulbs to a brighter type while I'm there... any ideas what's best to go for?

I'd printed off that picture and the details before I started Neil, but can you tell me if the picture was taken before or after the work had been done? That will help alot with my confusion I was trying to explain.
